Maggie & Mal's Adventures in North Cyprus, the UK and Beyond
What a day, we had storms, torrential rain and hail stones. No gardening today!! Keeping our fingers crossed the weather will change as Torin is coming to stay on Tuesday.

Again we were woken by the hunters at 6.00am. Goodness only knows what they were shooting at as it was barely light. Another trip to the beach to avoid getting shot at in the mountains.
Yet again the hunters were far too near our houses, it seems the Police did little last week so the hunters have no deterent. They can fire away as close to us and our neighbours as they want to. But I hadn’t reckoned on Lena going out and sorting them out! Good for her. A few choice Turkish phrases and they were on their way.
It was 14 degrees when we went to bed, the temperature is dropping.

We went shopping in the morning, for a change went to Bektas where they had quite a few offers. Next on to buy some trees for the front garden. We went to a very nice Cypriot man on the main road just down from Alsancak. We wanted another fig, so he pointed us in the direction of the figs, picked one up and took it to our car. Mal and I were in hysterics because we hadn’t actually said that was the one we wanted but he had chosen a good one and also a good Cypress tree. We have to go back the following day for almond. Good prices too. As we came out Bev and Gary pulled up. We haven’t seem them for ages as they have been suffering from the bug too.
We watched the England game in the evening followed by the last episode of Collision.
It had been raining during the night and we woke up to a lovely rainbow. Mal finished off the winter lounge and we were both very pleased to get the furniture back in as it had taken so long.

Our lack of internet problem had still not been resolved. The progress through the day can be followed on: http://www.northcyprusfreepress.com/2009/11/12/are-extend-broadband-rubbish-%E2%80%93-day-1/
Paul was so helpful and in future we will be paying our money to him and contacting him if things go wrong. At least he will know that we have paid, which is more than can be said for those in the frontline at Extend. I would recommend any other people with Extend to also go through Paul. The second part of the saga can be seen:
So, Mal finished the two coats of painting on all the walls in the winter lounge BUT another wall had started peeling. He has more patience than I have and proceeded stripping the two layers of paint off the second wall, ready for sealing in the morning. In the evening we watched two more episodes of the ITV drama ‘Collision’. We watched it via Mal’s proxy server.
I am totally fed up with having no energy following whatever bug I have had but it is getting better and far more people are a lot worse. My brother in law is at last out of hospital following his major op and has a long road to full recovery. We wish you a speedy recovery Bryan.
Mal took Rosie out for a walk and then discovered we had no internet.
I think the best way to explain the trials of our wasted day can be seen here:

I was still not feeling well and the last thing I wanted to do was drive to Girne and then back again to the shops to buy more credit for our phones. Needless to say, nothing else was done, no painting.
Another day with Mal trying to sort the walls out. It was a really sunny day a shame he was indoors. My neck was really hurting so did very little. In between painting and sealing he did make a start on the jungle of our front garden.
