It was pouring with rain and my wellies had started leaking (again!) I always make sure I keep the receipts now as I have returned so many. So, I headed for the shops and Mal took Ellie out. I also had to go to the Post Office so we could have our mail redirected. I took a pile of forms, like our pension statements, council tax, passports and much more. I hadn’t taken utility bills but explained that we do all that online. After 15 minutes heated debate, they refused to do it ,plus Mal had made a minor mistake while completing the form online and put a cross in the “rest of the world” box!! This however was minor compared to not showing her our utility bills. I gathered my things together and walked out. As it is we have to pay double as I didn’t want to change my surname when we got married, so we have different surnames, double the price! By the time I arrived home I had decided we would not pay out the almost £90 and just not have mail forwarded!! Mal agreed. Poor thing, he and Ellie got drenched on their walk and I have packed most of the “dog towels”.
I did get a full refund for my leaky wellies and bought another pair as replacement. I went into Asda and did the do it yourself checkout, when everything went wrong. Should I have expected anything different? A box of grapes split open all over the floor and then three things wouldn’t scan and the assistant told me I should enter the code numbers to which I replied that I wasn’t getting paid by Mr Walmart, so she could just take them away!! By this time I think I was a little bit peeved by my post office experience!
I went home!
We then discovered when Mal went to pay for something over the internet that his card has been blocked. He phoned the bank and something fraudulent had happened and a new card was on its way but delayed because of the bank holiday!
By the afternoon we started losing momentum with the packing!
