Mal and I were out early with Ellie so that I could go to Westwood. I had to get the rest of Josie’s birthday present and the last few bits of fresh food. As I climbed out of the car at Westwood one of my bags for life flew away, it was so windy. To be honest with all this Christmas shopping I am sick of having to carry bags into every shop OR pay 5p. I would have spent a fortune and I am no way certain that all these shops do give their money to charity. Anyway, I would rather personally donate to Macmillan.  My opinion on shopping in the UK,

We started watching Christmas films. I have to say ‘Nativity’ was good and funny. We hadn’t seen that one before.

Not much of a surprise about Dreamland in Margate, they are now in financial difficulties, their fate will be decided today. £3m and they have only been open 6 months.

The sun was out and so we went to Minnis Bay, we spend so long walking down there.

I can’t believe that Dreamland has been saved. Their creditors have said they have 5 years to pay back the £3m they owe. Thanet council has paid £1m to them already.

The last Christmas presents are wrapped. I think things are all in hand. Just a short list to pop out for tomorrow.

Not good news about the cleaner who was killed on a Pegasus plane at Sabiha Gokcen airport.  We always travel with Pegasus via Sabiha Gokcen.

In the evening I watched Snow Chick.

Out with Ellie and then Mal and I set to preparing lunch for TEN!! For once all the Daniel clan from Beltinge were coming over together. The older boys always seem to be working or doing some sort of activity. It was nice having them here all together. I think I have explained before, because of the layout of the cottage and our choice, leaving two spare rooms as bedrooms, we don’t have a dining room and the kitchen is not huge so it is much easier to have the greenhouse as our dining room. The kids call it the conservatory! It’s perfectly warm out there.

 

 

It was all very hectic and a job juggling all that food in one cooker. How I wish I still had my range cooker. Later we all watched National Lampoons Christmas Adventure, it’s a family tradition…….Christmas has started! They all went home very full.

An important note from KAR, for dog owners in TRNC…..

 

We went to Minnis Bay, it was quite windy, well, actually a lot windy. One of the beaches was covered with jelly fish

Many in the TRNC will know of Marian Stokes, who set up the Homebuyers Pressure Group. Sadly she passed away on the 19th. Her funeral will be held at Lapta Cemetery on Thursday 24th December.  Rest in Peace Marian.

In the evening we went to Kent Uni to see The Albion Christmas Band. They always get me in the Christmas mood, with carol singing  and lots of fun But I remember the days when they used to stand not all sit down!  In fact I used to take Torin and Rhys to see two of them, Ashley Hutchins (now MBE) and Simon Nicol way back, maybe 30 years ago!!

Out for our windy morning walk but even though there was a wind it was still very mild. Ellie found a toad! She sniffs anything out!

The rest of the morning a grand clear up as I haven’t felt like it at all for over a week.Then Christmas present wrapping. I wish I were just a little more enthusiastic! I keep putting Christmas films on, that should get me in the mood!

We were up early and into Westwood, I made the most of having Mal there to carry the shopping. We had Ellie in the car so we could take her to Botany Bay and then on to Mal’s sister, Marion, to say what time we are collecting her on Christmas day. Yes, she has a phone but for some reason only known to herself she turns the volume off! We keep telling her but it makes no difference.

Mal and I are glad not to have anything booked over this weekend. We have missed out on a couple of things as we have both felt ill, so it was nice to stay in. I watched Strictly and was disappointed with the result.

We took Ellie out and then decided we would go to Howletts to get a breath of fresh air and see my favourite Arina.

Tamil, the lion tailed macaque who escaped, has now been found. We do see other animals too but we spend ages watching Arina, we have seen her since the first day she was introduced to the public as a baby.

We usually walk the entire park but today, we just didn’t have the energy. It did us good the walk we did have though.

I should think there were only about another dozen visitors in the whole zoo, obviously everyone was out Christmas shopping.Our annual zoo passport runs out on 28th December. I don’t think she was supposed to but the nice lady on the desk said that 1st January the passport ticket price is going to double. She suggested that we buy a gift voucher for a passport and then exchange them within 6 months. So, that is what we did!

We watched Text Santa in the evening. Macmillan is one charity that I will always give to.
