The sun was out and so we walked up to Westwood as we keep realising, we don’t have the right spare bulbs or adapters and all the little things and the excercise does us good! There were more people there today than there were on Saturday. I think we have all the Christmas presents wrapped now.

Bargains – Kobo Mini E-reader £59.99 & Gluv Footwear 30% off & Magicbox DAB Radio £22

The Cardiff family came on the web cam in the morning. The older boys are staying with their mother for Christmas and so are having their first Christmas Day today and had opened their presents from us and from Lou and Rhys, then they were all off to Winter Wonderland and then out for a Christmas lunch.

The sun was out for us so we went for a trek over the muddy fields.  It was lovely even though our shoes and trousers were very muddy when we got back. We even opened all the windows which is the first time since  we have moved in! There are a lot of winter cabbage fields, it is usually cauliflowers in Thanet.

A shame we didn’t have a dog to walk with us. We have found out from Debbie that even though one of the TAG rescues is around the corner and we walk past it, they don’t keep any of their dogs there, only the cats and we can’t walk them! The pigs and miniature sheep are not at the rescue, that is another Rare Breed place further down the same lane.

In the evening we watched Wiggo win Sports Personality of the year.

Bargains – Falconry Taster Half Price & East Coast Rail Sale & Ereader £59.99

TODAY ONLY Debenhams HALF PRICE Megadeals!! Free Delivery on everything

No rain and so we walked to Westwood. We couldn’t believe that when we got to the main road, there was hardly any traffic, it is normally gridlock on Saturday. Is this because people are waiting until next weekend or that people really don’t have the money? We expected the shops to be packed too, they weren’t! Very sttrange as this is the main shopping place for all of this area.

I have to say we did buy a lot and then had to carry it back as there is no bus on Saturday. We bought one of Marks and Spencer meal deals, which work out so cheap. A chicken, vegetables, a desert AND a bottle of wine for £10!  Mal enjoyed pretending to be Santa, well, even he had gone missing!

In the afternoon we watched the football and then Scarlet and Jack came on the webcam.

It’s not Santa!!

Thought for the Day – “ The philosophy of mine earth can be summed up as this:  Sunshine creates happiness, and I create myself.  Nights are long and life is predominantly good.  Wind is refreshing.  Tea is wisdom.  Do the best you can, and be good to yourself so that you can above all be good to others.”  ~ Jessi Lane Adams

Bargains – 25% off Le Creuset Cookware & Thames Cruise £29 & Premier Inn £19 Sale

Boots Star gift – Soap and Glory £27 (was £60) !! Great Christmas Present.

Well, I have booked a couple of Premier Inn stops for over Christmas, first thing this morning. There are plenty of rooms available.

The weather has turned warmer and actually the overnight temperatures for the next couple of nights  is going to be the same as Cyprus! But it rained and goodness, did it rain! We managed to clear the last few things out of the caravan and handed the keys back.

We intended going shopping but in the end decided against going in all the rain and instead sorted out the caravan and wrapped some presents.

Not a particularly good time at the moment as my sister’s husband is still in hospital and extremely ill.

Thursday 13th December 2012

Bargains – Nicky Clarke “Hair do” £48 & Half Price Thames Helicopter Tour (both good Christmas Presents) & Simply Be 20% off everything & Boxed set Horrid Henry Books £7.99

According to the Rough Guide, it appears Mal and I are always on holiday! They have listed their Top 10 Places to visit in the world. North Cyprus is number 1 and Margate is number 7!! I can’t say I agree about the Turner Centre being so marvellous, most of it was closed on one occassion we visited. And if you are going to travel, then don’t expect too many of Turner’s works, hold on until October 2013 (until January 2014) when there is going to be a major exhibition of around 50 of his works. They do claim to have had 750,000 visitors but goodness only knows where people parked as it has no car park, you take pot luck in the town! But Margate does have a certain quaintness all of its own.

Mal did a bit of his exam work, which believe it or not, he had forgotten about! It was only the first small check and he emailed it and received the go ahead.

It wasn’t so cold and so we walked to Westwood to get some shopping, extension leads, lamps and lots of other things. We are now getting surprisingly organised (at last!)

Excellent stocking filler Martine West Lucky dip bag for a fifth of the normal price (includes necklace, ear rings and purse) all for £10. That’s got to be a bargain!

It was cold whe we got up. A thick frost outside and there was a small amount of ice inside the bathroom window!

We were getting a lot more sorted out. The spare room had been a tip but at last that is getting sorted. The problem is not to lose any of the Christmas presents!!

The TV man came and sorted out the aerial for us, so now we have TV and not just on our laptops! A bit of a joke really as we now have all the channels but there was hardly a thing on we wanted to watch in the evening!

Bargains – Wickes Free Delivery on everything

We collected the last few bits from the old caravan and then had to return the Avis hire car to Kent International Airport at 9am. Ken was there as he had to arrange another car for someone else. He is such a kind man, he gave us a lift back so we didn’t have to walk in the cold weather!

We spent the rest of the day unpacking and trying to organise the caravan and find homes for everything. A lot we had just dumped inside and so now time to sort out. We also put our Christmas tree up. In the afternoon the internet man came and connected us up. We just have to get the TV sorted out now and they are coming tomorrow.

We also have a spare fridge and so Debbie will collect that for Thanet Animal Group.
