We had breakfast at the hotel and then went into Salisbury and did some Christmas shopping and then drove back to Margate. On the way back we stopped at Faversham at my favourite farm shop. Next door is “Herman’s Plaice”, a fish shop where you can buy the most delicious fish, which Herman gets fresh from  Whitstable. Of course we had to go in there and buy lots! And in the farm shop where they have masses of Christmas goodies in.

We spent the morning with Lou and Rhys and the family. Lou dressed the Christmas tree and also sorted out all the Christmas stockings.

From there we drove to Wells to Wendy and Ken’s house, where we collected some of Ken’s books (Doodle and Scribble) that he had signed for us. We stayed for a cuppa and a chat and then drove to Salisbury and went for a late Sunday roast. We then checked into the Legacy Rose and Crown and had a really lovely room which looked out on to the river. The hotel was in a really good position, just a short walk into the shopping centre and the cathedral.

Our breakfast was brought to our room which was very nice. After that we drove to Cardiff to see Lou, Rhys and family. Lou was working but the rest of us drove down to the Barrage at Cardiff Bay. It’s a really nice walk and a lot to do for kids down there.

In the evening we all had an Indian Take Away and later Mal and I went back to our hotel.

We arranged to drive to Gloucester as Steve wanted to see Mal. It was snowing when we left Margate and it was a really long journey with a lot of traffic. We ended up booking into a Metro Inn, which we have never heard of before. I have to say everything was really nice there and the price also included continental breakfast brought to your room. The room was rather small but everything else was good and tea and coffee in the room.

We then went off to the hospital.Steve has improved since Mal last saw him and he still isn’t really up to visitors but at least Mal managed over an hour with him. Get well soon Steve.

I waited in the hospital coffee bar. On the way back we found a pub where we had a late dinner.

Back to the Metro and decided to have a cup of tea in our room. Well, then Mal and I were in hysterics. He filled the kettle and walked all round the room with it looking for a power point! There was nowhere where you could put the kettle on something and plug it into a socket! We looked everywhere, so in the end Mal had to hold the kettle while it boiled!! There must be something in Health and Safety about that.

Nowhere to put the kettle!

We walked down to Kent International Airport to collect our Avis Hire Car. Ken was there ready with our car for us. They are a very good company.

Moving Day! Deb and Dave came and collected all the spare furniture for the  animal rescue. Pete, the handyman here transported our king size bed, washing machine and the outside metal store for us. The rest that we hadn’t already moved we loaded into the car and had a few more journeys. By early evening Mal and I were exhausted but at least the bed was all put together and the electric blanket on and everywhere warming up nicely. We were very lucky, it didn’t rain all day!

A little chilly when we woke up and looking at the news, it seems snow has fallen in a lot of places and Luton and Stansted airports, the runways are closed. No snow in Margate!

More moving by foot and there was a really cold wind.

Scarlet and Jack came on the webcam early evening. They had their Christmas Play at nursery school. Scarlet was a star and Jack was one of the wise men. They didn’t tell us too much about it as Dad was about to put up the Christmas decorations and they wanted to help!

On its 75th Birthday, Dandy (comic) is on sale for the last time today!

A bit chilly but the sun was streaming through the windows. We went shopping in the morning to Westwood and decided to walk up there and then catch the three times weekly bus back. Well, along with about half a dozen others we waited and waited. It didn’t turn up and so we all ended up walking with all our shopping and goodness it was blowing as we walked back along the fields.

More moving in the afternoon. We won’t have room for our bedroom suite in the next caravan as it is fitted in there and it really is too good to dump, so we rang Mal’s sister and asked if she wants it for her charity shops. Of course she does and so will collect it on Thursday.

The site owners have now decided we can move this Thursday instead of 12th! We will have to get a move on now but at least they are moving all the heavy things. So by Friday we will be in a “newer” caravan away from the clubhouse and in an area that is really quiet. Yeah!

Our “new home”!
