We went for a walk in the morning along the Lapta coast. We thought we would try the coastal path the other way but it is a work in progress so didn’t go much farther than we went last time.

Later we watched the Great North Run which my niece, Julie and friends are running in. They are dressed as cave women! They are running to raise money for ABC, Action on Bladder Cancer. The Flackwell Heath Cavegirls and it looks as though they have raised well over £1,300!! Well done girls. (Julie is on the right in the picture)

We watched the Spurs game, the first game of the season they have won! Later we spoke to all the boys in Cardiff. Tariq had his first football game last week playing for the University Academy(UWIC). Oscar came on the phoine too, full of his first days at school.

I cooked Molehiya for dinner, the first time i have tried cooking it.

Breaking News from Kulaksiz 5 and of course the “news” from Cyprus Today. It was very sad to hear that The Abbey Bell Tower has burnt down. Bellapais won’t be quite the same any more.

We went out for the day with Christa and Robin. We drove to Gűzelyurt, or should I say Robin drove. We went to the Saturday market first where of course everything is far cheaper than the Girne area. AND they let you sample the produce.I wasn’t even going to buy any hellim but having tasted it, it was so good, obviously village made, same thing with the walnut stuffed figs!

From there we went to a clothes shop called Midye Butik – 9 Ahmet Mulla Sk. (0392 714 2003) They have such stylish clothes and they are really reasonable prices. Christa and I both bought a dress each! They also sell shoes, handbags and accessories. They were really nice people in the shop, Kemal the owner, and even gave us a drink each. They actually have two shops almost next to each other.

We then went and had lunch in the back garden of a little cafe, that was very pleasant and good food and of course it goes without saying cheaper than Girne area as well.

On the drive back Robin took us to the Monumental Olive Tree Centre where  400 of the 2,000 olive trees there are 500 years and older. Some are 800 years old. It’s quite an amazing place and we were the only people there.

On the drive home of course we had to stop at Mardo’s for an ice cream!

And then there were three……..in the afternoon, I met up with Sue and Tanya. Our numbers to meet seem to be dwindling. We met at Cafe Boss and had a lovely lunch and heard all about Sue’s time in the UK.  We missed you Joan! But a good lunch and a very good catch up. It always seems to be a very long lunch.

I felt a bit better. I have had a lump on my forehead, maybe a bite but not being sure and the fact it has been there for a while, I decided to go the Pharmacy and see what the Pharmacist said. She told me that she wouldn’t give me anything as she didn’t know what it was and I should see a doctor. I then asked who she would recommend and she said no one locally, I would be best going to Near  East Hospital!!! Now there is confidence for you.

In the afternoon there was a protest about the rubbish being dumped in the ravine in the village. Seeing as we have been told personally that ex pats are not allowed to protest, we made the decision not to go. A shame as we think of oursleves as part of Malatya.

Later Scalet and Jack and Torin came on the web cam.

Margaretha came round in the morning. In the afternoon we went to Christa and Robin’s for cake! We had been invited yesterday but had to cancel.

Cyprus Today – full of news as usual!

In the evening we booked some Pegasus tickets for winter. Now that’s better £79 one way from Stansted!

If anyone fancies a trip to Istanbul, Pegasus are doing that for £52 one Way (from Stansted).

Not a good day, I had some sort of tummy bug. I suppose it is not surprising with supermarkets selling mouldy jam and freezer cabinets with temperatures way above what they should be etc etc!!

Well, it seems this may be “dumping animals corner”. For a few days we have had a black cat coming up and looking at us, obviously hungry and thirsty but when we went near her she just hissed at us. Yesterday I gave her some water and a bit of food and she was ravenous. She looked as if she had been or was a nursing mother. When Christa was here, she was looking over the edge of the pool and saw a kitten and then other…there are four in all playing in the undergrowth. If anyone has lost a black cat, please reclaim it OR it may indeed be feral as she has managed so far to bring up her four kittens.  I can’t see the poor thing starve and so went to Atakara to buy some cat food. The kittens still have blue eyes so guessing they are about 4 weeks old. In all that time we have never heard any meowing! They are down in the overgrown section that we never go down to.

Then today I heard from David and Kenny, yesterday two tiny puppies were dumped in their lower garden, later they had disappeared but in the afternoon two more (different ones) appeared in their absent next door neighbours garden, whimpering, poor things so of course they fed and watered them and today rang KAR who told them to ring back tomorrow!!!! How can people be so heartless?

Meanwhile Mal started painting the living room.

In the evening Andy Murray won the US Open!!!
