Mal and I went for a morning walk along the new Lapta walkway by the sea. It isn’t finished yet but I am sure it will be good when it is complete. I just hope they remember the litter bins en route as there are already empty plastic bottles and rubbish strewn along it.

It was a lovely walk and we watched some of the fishermen along the coast. On the way back we bought fresh baked olive bread from Atakara for breakfast.

In the afternoon Christa and Robin came round to see us. They have visitors staying who have little conversation, so came for a break and a chat! It was nice to see them and they brought cake!

We dropped Jill off at Physio in Karakum in the morning. She was getting a lift back with somebody else. It seems the physio is telling her she should be walking normally now but when she does her leg swells and she still has to use crutches. I think I will keep my opinions to myself about some of the medics here, at least in our experience when we have both been told we needed operations when neither of us did. Cash and cows comes to mind when they saw us!

Mal and I decided that we would go and have lunch at Cafe Boss, stupid us, didn’t realise it is closed on Saturdays!

We noticed that Astro is no longer Astro but is now “Localmar”.  We did go in and they seem to have identical offers to Lemar.

On the way back we bought some paint for the living room and bedroom and then went into Lemar. Mal returned the mouldy jam and was given a refund…of course no apology,,, the usual couldn’t really care less. BUT they do have some good offers on at the moment, for example 8 x 50cl cans of Efes for 16.50tl. Now that is important as there is no Gold Fassl to be had anywhere!

Cyprus Today, for what it is worth. It always amazes me how they can fill 48 pages with so little news. Well, I suppose 16 of those are “leisure.”

Murray is through to the US Open Final!! Yeah!

Bargains – Black Fast boil kettle for ONLY £9 & British Airways sale & Reduced Price Tickets for Les Miserables. I have just ordered one of the kettles for the caravan and seeing as family are going there soon, they can take it for me!

We started weeding down the drive, the only problem is at the bottom of the drive everyone who passes stops to have a chat!

I bought some Hartley’s Black Cherry Jam in Lemar this week and opened it today. The top was covered in mould!! Luckily I found the receipt so that is going back!

More cleaning of shutters, I was just about to finish when Mustafa arrived to turn his soil in his field behind us…..wonderful, dust everywhere.

We were up early before the sun came up and so went for a walk. It still feels odd walking on our own but we did meet a lot of dogs who were pleased to see us. One in particular, Bobby, who I always used to give a treat to but now I don’t have treats in my pocket. I shall have to remember them next time but he still came on the walk with us. We did see some beautiful flowering cactus on the way.

Back home and I went to buy Cyprus Today and a tray of eggs, which have increased in price. I paid 10.99tl  in Atakara. It wasn’t so long ago they were 5.45tl. I really don’t know how the locals in the village keep up with these price hikes.

For those who don’t want to read the precis of Cyprus Today, be aware that there will be strike action into Ercan airport on Saturday 15th September.

It’s the boys first day back at school and Oscar’s first day at “big school” and he was so excited.

We went to Lemar in the morning. On the way there, in Karaoğlanoğlu, the Police were at the side of the road pulling motorists over. Yes, they pulled us over. He asked for my documents, which I gave him, then asked for my driving licence. I’d done it again, changed handbags and it was in the one I left at home. I told him it was at home and he just said OK and stopped the traffic so I could continue on my way!

In the afternoon I started one of my least favourite jobs, cleaning all the shutters. There are only so many you can do in one day without getting totally bored and hands shredded!

We went to David and Kenny’s for coffee in the morning. David had bought a new mini pad, so Mal helped set it up for him.

The last couple of nights I have had my eyes and nose streaming and can’t decide whether it is an allergy or what but the only thing that seems to stop it is taking Beechams Plus.
