We took Rosie into the ravine. She loves having a paddle down there.
I went shopping and bought Cyprus Today. Hardly any news in that!
Mal was busy doing things for Pauline and also revision classes for River via Skype. As he said why do people ask what you do when you are retired? Our days are always busy.
The day started off well, with a cup of tea in bed while we opened our Valentine’s cards and presents. I bought Mal a book which had gone out of print and I have been trying to get for the last year and a half (unbeknown to him!)
The rest of the morning Mal spent helping River and giving him practice questions and then giving him feedback.
In the afternoon Mal went with Pauline and Chris to meet with a lawyer concerning Pauline’s so called libel case. I can’t believe “Justice” here. I have to say Mal was shocked at what the meeting revealed.
This is a small message Pauline wrote on “Stop the Blackmail” on returning home.
“Just returned from seeing Advocate about Libel writ. Seems that heads I lose, tails I lose. If I win, the costs awarded wil be minmal, not even close to £1000, no such thing as damages and the legal fees will be £3000, If I lose, the Bank are looking for 50,000 to 100,000 lira in damages, plus of course I will have legal fees to pay. How is that fair, clearly there is no case to answer, but even that scenario. How can I be accused of something I strenuously deny, yet still receive no compensation for being dragged through the courts. Is this justice? I shall have to think of some way to raise the money.”
Is the TRNC now the right place for us to call home?
By the time Mal arrived home neither of us could be bothered to go out to eat so instead we ordered a take away from Dolphin. Total confusion in the delivery as the guy has delivered before but of course our address has changed! Handy tip, he said in future to tell him we are “2 Malatya”!! This of course refers to our previous address and not the new one!

Another lovely day and lunch outside again. Mal and I are so grateful for the web cam and we see the grandchildren so often it is lovely. It really gives the kids a chance to realise (or remember) just how silly their grandad is!
River is starting exams at school and is revising this half term. Lucky boy he has a constant Skype link with Grandad for the bits he doesn’t understand. It does have its benefits having a Principal Examiner and qualified Maths and Science, IT and Business Studies teacher as your Grandad.

It was such a nice day that we decided to go for a drive and take Rosie. She must have thought it was her birthday as she had runs in the forests and swims in the sea. Forests when we were collecting pine cones and the beaches we stopped at on the way.
We drove past Horseshoe Bay and to Kayalar and Sadrazamkőy, along the coast and then inland on the way back, driving through Koruçam. I don’t know how we have never been through this village before in all the time we have lived here!! It was quite a surprise to us seeing all the Catholic banners and St George’s church read more about the Maronite village. At one point we began to think we had crossed the border by mistake with all the Greek Cypriot car plates!
Of course we passed Geçitkőy Reservoir which for once seemed remarkably full.
Sun again, so we went to the beach with Rosie. It was lovely down there.
Later we went to Lambousa market as we haven’t been for a long while. It was very busy but quite honestly a lot of the outside stalls looked a bit jumble sale-ish. Food shopping on the way back and then had our lunch outside. We were going to have lunch out but then decided to go home and have it in the garden, with the same views as many of the restaurants!
Rosie had been chasing around the garden and we found a dead tree rat deposited outside our front door. I don’t think she killed it, probably one of the local cats and she just decided to bring it to us …yuk!
Football in the afternoon. A good result for Spurs ‘Arry looked very happy but then he has had a good week one way and another. The Man U game was spoilt a little by Suarez being such a prat. For those who didn’t see it, he refused to shake Evra’s hand at the beginning of the match. Having watched the Chelsea game as well, we were a bit ‘footballed out’ by the evening.

No rain today although it was very windy and quite a cold one at that. Mal and I did a few jobs outside. It was nice to get outside without being rained on.

In the evening Torin, Scarlet and Jack came on the web cam. It looks as though Scarlet and Jack now call Mal “silly Grandad” as well as the others! He does play about with them, pretending he is cooking shoes for dinner(!) etc etc.

Having spent some time with Pauline and Chris yesterday, Mal and I both agree that we don’t like our friends being intimidated, as they are being. If you haven’t kept up with recent events, take a look at NCFP. Freedom of speech?! and A writ for having an opinion.
We certainly don’t like the way the TRNC may be allowing things to go and have always advocated Freedom of Speech. We know why a certain bank is trying to silence Pauline but we just hope the TRNC legal system doesn’t allow it. If they do, then does anyone want to buy our villa with stunning views of both sea and the mountains?
For anyone interested this is similar to the break that Mal and I went on when we were in the UK and I can honestly say it was worth every penny. This one has been extended until 30th April, if only I were in the UK! All inclusive break
