Mal and I had to pack up and on the move again. We decided to have a while in Chippenham as it was on the way to Cardiff. Of course we had booked a Travelodge, it wasn’t a £10 one but this one was £12! We had a nice drive even though we drove through a bit of drizzle.
We were almost there when we discovered that this Travelodge was on the other side of the dual carriageway and we had to drive 18 miles out of our way to get to it. We then discovered that it was on the edge of a busy service station! Not one of the best locations. We decided that we would add this to our list of Travelodges not to stay at again. (ONly one other at the moment and we have stayed at a lot!)
Mal went into reception and the receptionist told us that she was very sorry but we would not be staying there as they had a burst underground pipe and no hot water. Can you imagine our dissapointmnet when she told us that we were booked into the Angel Hotel in the market square in the centre of town! NOT!! She also told us because of the “inconvenience” we were booked in for Bed AND breakfast! So, we accepted her apologies and drove to the four star hotel (well over £100 a night) which we had paid £12 for. Well done Travelodge, you know how to treat customers!
By the time we were in our very nice room with free Wi – Fi. I discovered that they had tried to contact us by email and phone.
We had a wander around Chippenham and then decided we may as well eat in the hotel, at least then I could have a drink. Then when we sat at our table the waitress told us that Thursday there was a special deal!
We had a very good sirloin steak each and a bottle of remarkably good Chardonay. To be honest a real Bargain hunters day and evening!
