We had a gift voucher for Christmas from Jem and Dom and it was for Foliage. Originally it was for afternoon cocktails – no way when I have to drive so we changed it to afternoon tea. Also it was until the end of March but because I was unwell they were kind enough to extend it for us. It’s a very nice place and lovely staff and it is dog friendly. They even brought a bowl of dog biscuits for Ellie!

Very nice but too much and too much sugar!!

A Red Hatter lunch day. We met at the Jolly Farmer. It was so nice to be back with the girls and catch up on everything with them. I have missed them and of course missed the holiday in Eastbourne because I was unwell. They had fun and so that was a good thing.

Four of us decided we wanted to go to Warners in the Isle of Wight again next January so in the evening I booked it all.

Tuesday 14th April 2026

We were up early as my appointment at Kent and Canterbury Hospital was 9am but I had to be there half an hour before. Mal came with me and we booked an Uber as I was told I couldn’t drive straight afterwards.

I didn’t have long to wait and I have to say the staff were really lovely. But they had to put a cannula in to put more Omnipaque in my body. Three attempts in one arm to get the needle in and then she gave in and put it in my hand!  A very weird sensation their preparation and then the scans.

She then took me to the toilet, to get dressed. As soon as I came out she had a sandwich, packets of biscuits and a cup of tea ready for me. What service. Mal shared some of this as he hadn’t had breakfast! When they said I could leave, we called another Uber to take us home.

It was such a lovely day Mal suggested as I had been starving, we should go for a late lunch at The Bell. It was just so nice sitting in their garden, sun out, Ellie very relaxed. A nice way to spend the afternoon.

In the evening we caught up with “Ben Fogle in China”. It certainly makes you think!

Monday 13th April 2026

Not a work day as I had to take laxatives before my colonoscopy scan the following day.

So, up early to walk Ellie before my first 8am dose. And that is how the day continued, which meant I couldn’t leave the house.

The last dose was Omnipaque , that was not very tasty! Of course no food for 36 hours., which started Sunday evening.

Ellie’s 14th birthday!!

We thought she would enjoy Minnis Bay, we hadn’t even considered how cold it would be down there and while we were walking along the beach, it poured with rain. We all got soaked.

But Ellie enjoyed it! I think it wore her out.

Lunchtime we gave her the birthday biscuits…not all at once! And a present.

Then it was time to watch Spurs….they lost again! The consolation was my “second” team Luton Town won the Vertu Trophy at Wembley!!

Saturday 11th April 2026

Our walk was around Wingham Orchards. A lovely time of year as the bluebells are out and the blossom just starting on the apple trees.

We used our new slow cooker to cook one of the Easter joints. They are just so easy, we use them a lot. We had to cook the joint today as I have to starve for 36 hours from tomorrow night, ready for my scan. If you get hungry, you can such barley sugar. When was the last time any of us saw that?!
