Thursday 7th August 2025

We walked Ellie in Eastry, somewhere different again, for different sniffs! Then on to the pharmacy to collect my steroid cream.

When Ellie had her op, we decided to buy her a new bed, nice and comfortable. She has sniffed it! I put her blanket in it, still doesn’t like it!

I have to say this is quite typical for retrievers. In the garden there is a small patch of stones and she often lies on those rather than the lawn! But on this occasion she decided to chill on the lawn!

Wednesday 6th August 2025

We walked Ellie and went a little further along the huge field, the first time we have gone that way since her operation.

Later on in the day I had an appointment with the ENT consultant. A very nice man who thoroughly checked my ears and said that I have eczema in both ears. He told me because it is split skin, it will get infected and bacteria will get in.  Not to use water on it at all and gave me a prescription for steroid cream and another appointment to see him in a month. At last someone who knows what they are talking about.

Tuesday 5th August 2025

We walked Ellie, still building the walks up little by little but bearing in mind that she is no longer on pain killers.

I then went to Westwood Cross to get some shopping. I would rather have gone to Deal but they have the main road dug up at Sholden for the entire August!

In the afternoon Ellie and I sat in the garden. We have started picking my tomatoes and have a lot ! These are just a few of them!!

Of course we have all the beans and courgettes from the allotment.

Monday 4th August 2025

It was Ellie’s first day without any pain killers, so not a very long walk first thing. But she appeared to manage OK.

A busy day at work. At then end of the day when I was ready to leave Jack told me for the entire area, I had taken the most money, signed up the most new gift aiders and also sold the most lottery tickets!  I told him I would have to polish my halo!  I am pleased because Jack is an excellent manager and it all looks good for him!

Sunday 3rd August 2025

We went to the Viking Ship for Ellie’s short walk.

While we were there, we thought we may as well stay for a coffee. They are really nice people who run the cafe and their coffee is very good and good value.

Lunchtime we watched the friendly pre season Spurs v Newcastle . Very sad as it was Son’s last game playing for Spurs and he really did seem so upset.

It was a draw. Later we watched the Hammers game and they managed a win.

Saturday 2nd August 2025

We took Ellie to the park in Ramsgate, lots of new sniffs, so keeps her mind active but she wanted to run with the other dogs but of course isn’t allowed off lead.

So another short walk. She does wonder why we don’t do the proper walk but she is still limping.  Bit by bit.

And this is why Dover should be avoided during the summer holidays……every holiday the same!!

Time DDC and the Highways Agency did something sensible about it. I avoid Dover like the plague.
