For the first time since the op we walked Ellie along The Butts as far as the cricket  pitch.

It was quite a way for her and she slept a lot afterwards.

I went to Westwood Cross as I needed some new sandals. I would have preferred Deal but the road is still closed and a long diversion.  This says it all….

Mal stayed in all the time as we were changing from Sky to Virgin and they were coming out to change it. At 4.50pm they called to say someone was off sick and wouldn’t be coming after all and would have to reschedule. Nice of them to let us  know at that time when Mal had been waiting in all day!

I booked quite a few outings for Red Hatters for next year.

Wednesday 13th August 2025

We walked Ellie early and then I met up with the Kent Lavender Ladies – Red Hatters at The Jolly Farmer as they all enjoyed the last meal there.

I had quite a few suggestions of places to go to. The shows, there are always at least 4 of us that will go. There was also a weekend in the Isle of Wight at a Warners Hotel early next year which Pam and I have been to before and it was good fun, so yes there are 5 of us booked for that. So, whilst everyone else was enjoying the lunch, I was sorting out the lists of dates and prices. The meal was very good.

We had a really good time.

In the evening we watched the Spurs game and they did show a lot of promise….we were leading 2 -0 and then finally we lost on penalties.

Tuesday 12th August 2025

We walked Ellie again before the heat. She wants to go a bit further than we let her because she forgets we have to go back again and then she is tired.  We haven’t left her since her operation and so thought we had better try today. We put the stair gate up at the bottom of the stairs just in case she attempted to climb the stairs.  We then went off to Wingham Wildlife to see if we could spot the baby Orangutan. Unlucky again, mum kept her outside but where we couldn’t see him.

We had to laugh at the Bintarong, he looked exactly as everyone felt in the heat!

Four of the grandsons took Rhys horse racing for the day….

Meanwhile a much more sedate afternoon tea for the girls!

Sunday 10th August 2025

After our walk, Mal started preparing a roast as Lou, Rhys, Oscar and Josie were coming round.

He wouldn’t let me help, I think he was practising for Christmas as they are all coming to us!! I have to say it was delicious. A half side of salmon and a pork crackling joint and the crackling was perfect!

It was lovely to see them all.

Saturday 9th August 2025

Shopping early morning before the crowds!

In the evening Penny, Pam, Ali and I went to see “Some Guys Have all the Luck” a Rod Stewart tribute.  A bit of a problem parking in Ramsgate as the theatre doesn’t have its own car park. Of course a hot day so loads of beach goers, Margate Pride on and  Broadstairs Folk week too.

We really enjoyed it, a sell out concert and a lot of sing along. I have to admit that every time I hear Maggie May I think of Torin as he always put it on when we went to see him.

Friday 8th August 2025

Milly, Sol  and Luna came to visit. So lovely to see them as they now live near Preston , Lancs. so we don’t see them as much as we would like. Luna is a real cutie. She liked picking my tomatoes even though we told her not to eat the green ones! She also loved playing with Ellie and I think Ellie enjoyed the company to start with but then got tired and just wanted to sleep. She did go indoors at one stage.
