Down to the beach with Ellie. After the storms there was a lot of sea weed all along the coast. Ellie loved rolling in it.

We settled down to watch the Chelsea match in the afternoon only to find it was not on Dodgy Turk (DIGITURK). This has happened before so I phoned them and asked what channel it was showing on. She asked my name first of all and then said she had no record of me.  She then asked for my account number, I was just about to reply when she turned the music on. When eventually she came back on I told her that was extremely rude when I was talking to her. She told me she made a mistake!! So she told me channel 78. No, I have 78 on, Oh, I don’t know.  I will phone you back. 15 minutes later she phoned back and told me it wasn’t on any channel, not Premier just Turkish football. I asked what I was paying for as that is the only thing we watch on TV and it is supposed to be all the Premier matches. She said she didn’t know!! So dodgy Turk can have their box back next week, it is no good for us if the one thing we are paying for, they are no longer showing. What a waste of money as this has happened on a few occasions.

When I was back in the UK, I ordered about £60 worth of dog things from Pet Supermarket to bring back to Cyprus, including 3 Scalibor collars one each for Ellie, Loppi and Jekka. We even paid for Premium delivery to ensure they reached us on time. After a week we called them asking where they were only to be told they didn’t have any in stock. What made it worse was the fact that they had taken my money without being able to fulfil my order! I was not happy and wrote and complained. Today I received a very nice email apologising and sending me a £15 token to be used off my next order.

A nice long walk in the morning. We saw Kenny on the way back home and had a chat with him.

More gardening and then lunch. Off to the dentist in the afternoon. Ipek managed to make a repair where the piece of porcelain had chipped off my bridge and she also cleaned my teeth, saying I should go every 6 months. I usually do and couldn’t believe it is nearly 2 years since I last went. Time goes by far too quickly, Must be an age thing! So, bridge repair and a very thorough teeth cleaning and that was 120tl (£33.15 at today’s exchange rate). That was a relief, I imagined it would need a new bridge.

A walk in the ravine and a chat with David on the way back. A much brighter and sunnier today.

I went outside to do more gardening. Everywhere I went Ellie followed!

I have a dental bridge which I had about 16 years. A few weeks ago part of it broke at the top. It didn’t seem to cause a problem, so I just left it but really have to do something about it. I phoned Ipek at Smile this afternoon and now have an appointment for tomorrow! Didn’t think it would be that quick!

Storms and rain overnight but thankfully the rain had stopped when it was time for our walk. Not as good as usual, on the drive up to the mountains a dog ran out from its gate right in front of my car.  Next thing a neighbour with 5 dogs was walking them and they tried to have a go at Ellie who is very submissive. I am afraid these dogs are not under control at all and shouldn’t be walked together.

We had another heavy downpour at lunchtime and thunder rumbling all around the mountains.

In the evening more catching up on TV programmes, We missed a lot when we were in the UK.

We were up when it was still dark again. As soon as it was light we went off to the mountains. A lovely walk.

We spent most of the day without internet. I was out doing more gardening until the afternoon when we had more rain. Not complaining because we need the rain.

It is one year today that I stopped smoking!

We were awake while it was still dark so waited a while and then took Ellie up the mountains for a lovely walk. We miss our walks.

I forgot to say, just before we left the UK I had a phone call from the Crescent Victoria Hotel, where Lou and I went for afternoon tea. I wrote a Trip Advisor review saying it was rather amateurish but I still gave them a “4”. They called to apologise as they were opening another hotel in Whitstable and were in the middle of training staff. They have invited Lou and I back to give them another chance…free of charge. Very nice of them.

I went to get some shopping and my trusty car wouldn’t start. David to the rescue with his car. I had the jump leads. We still couldn’t get it started. David even discovered he had corrosion around his battery and his is quite a new car. The jump leads I brought from the UK years ago and they have been in my boot ever since, never used but finally discovered they didn’t work. Dave just happened to be calling into David’s and so he brought up his heavy duty jump leads. My car is back on the road. That is the first time that it hasn’t started after me being away.

Torin phoned later and told me we just left in time as the weather was diabolical with heavy rain and winds and more expected this week.

Later in the afternoon we had a massive storm and a lot of rain, so it is not just the UK!  I love sitting under the terrace watching it all and I have to say one bolt of lightning and clap of thunder was the closest I have ever been. Ellie and I both jumped.

We bought Ellie one of her favourite chicken flavoured nyla bones back from the UK.

In the evening we caught up with some of the programmes we had missed in the UK.

Up early and off to Gatwick to catch our Turkish Airlines flight back to North Cyprus. We took our car back to Green Motion, that was easy and the flight was good too. I have to say again far better than Pegasus. The air crew smile and are helpful!

David was waiting for us at Ercan airport and he had already settled Ellie back in at home for us. Of course she went mad when she saw us. It had been raining at some time so at least the plants were watered.
