Our walk was very windy but at least the rain clouds kept away.

We later went to Lambousa to buy tickets for the fireworks on 1st November as Scarlet and Jack will be here. 20tl on the night which I find a little expensive for two 5 year olds.  Last year children had a reduction. In fact this year if you wait until the night the price of a child’s ticket has doubled from 10tl to 20tl. But as we have bought ours today, it is 15tl each, same for the kids. 25% increase. I’ll say no more about that. I am just hoping now I have bought the tickets that it isn’t pee-ing down with rain on the night which is actually forecast!  On the way back we bought Cyprus Today.

We watched the Hammers v Man City game. That put a smile on Mal’s face. They won 2-1.

It was very windy when we went for our walk. Great walking weather. Then of course Ellie falls asleep after her run, this time on the sofa……

David and Kenny invited Mal and I and Jennifer and Dave over for lunch. Ellie came too and spent all the time playing with Loppi. We had a lovely meal.


Mal fell asleep shortly after we got home. It might have been something to do with his seemingly never emptying wine glass!

We had to wait until 6.45 until it became light enough to go out for our walk. We went to the mountains, it’s still quite warm when you are walking.

We went straight to Lemar to buy some eggs. By this time it was nearly 8. They were shut even though the notice on the door said they open at 7.30. In the end one of the girls decided to open the door when she saw me. There were other people waiting too.

On the way back we noticed that Acmenya have put their Sunday roast up to 25tl. I am not surprised in the slightest as it is still good value. The last time we went there we felt quite ashamed to be British. A large table of about 10 Brits sat down very near to us and when the waiter asked what drinks they wanted they said “none, we will help ourselves to the brandy” and with that went and took one of the bottles of brandy that you help yourself to with coffee. The waiter said nothing…I was very close to saying something to them. That was just so cheeky.

For those of my readers who are not totally bored with my Dunelm voiles saga, it continues but now I have to say in a positive light. I had a phone call from Brian, Customer Service. He replied to the original email.  Very nice he was too. He apologised, assured me that all my comments had been taken on board. The last poorly written email was from a new member of staff who will now receive staff training. I just hope I haven’t got her in trouble but in every job I have had as a Manager,correspondence was checked with a new member of staff to ensure they were up to the company standard. He also assured me that a new stock control system is being installed. Again I emphasised the staff at the Broadstairs store were very good and in no way at fault. He said Dunelm appreciate  customer feedback or they are not aware of the problems and he is now sending me a gift card for £30 for the time and trouble I took letting them know. Very nice of them. It took a long long time and a lot of too-ing and fro-ing but we got there in the end, so at last I won’t mind returning to Dunelm at Broadstairs.

It seemed much warmer when we were out for our walk. Very pleasant.  More gardening.

I met up with Sue and Tanya for lunch. It’s months since we have had a chance to meet for lunch, so we had a lot to talk about.  We ate at Magarina Bulli, the food is spectacular as usual and so much! It’s delicious home cooked Cypriot food and Kezi really makes you feel so welcome. They don’t rush you either! We didn’t leave until 4.15!

I heard from Torin and he is trying to organise all his work as he will be holidaying with us next week. He has to make sure all his contractors know what they have to do. I bet Scarlet and Jack are getting excited.

Up to the mountains for a walk and still we are getting very interesting sun rises.

We met Dave up there with his three dogs, so Ellie had a great game with them and used up lots of energy.

Then we went off to Margaretha’s. She has been having problems receiving emails so Mal sorted all that out for her. Tthe three of us then had our lunch at Silver Rocks. It was quite busy in there as it usually is but maybe because it is the end of the season, the service was not as good as usual but the food was!

A walk in the ravine and today the goat man’s dog decided to come with us and play with Ellie. Can you believe the collar he has now put on that poor dog?

He had a good play with Ellie but towards the end of the walk, a lady with her 3 dogs came towards us and a fight between the two male dogs started, with the poor woman in hot pursuit of her own dog. Ellie just stood looking shocked wondering what on earth was going on. By the time we were back walking by the goats, the dog was back there, collar and all!
We have seen very few snakes this year but this was one that obviously didn’t make it crossing the road this morning! It looks like a Blunt Nosed Viper to me.
The ongoing saga with Dunelm. The last I heard they were going to phone me and so I gave them our Skype/ London number, explaining it would only cost them a UK call. Instead of them phoning me, I had the most awful Customer Service reply email I have ever seen. No, they can’t phone Skype,….I have looked into your request (what request, I am just telling them their stock control is rubbish)……Dunelm do not offer compensation for time lost, or loss of earnings (erm where did I ever ask for compensation?!) ……..It is never our intention to cause any inconvenience to you or to your family…..(is this relevant to anything?!) She also suggested that she could get me the voiles…..3 designs ago!!  I bring this up now because this morning I have received a customer service survey to complete!! Of course I have completed it. At the end of the survey, it took me back to their home page. If Dunelm can’t get anything else right, I thought these looked interesting to make.

We woke up to rain. Down to the beach with Ellie but the sea was really rough. The tide was in, so much so that Mal and I got soaked by an unexpected wave. It may be rough but the sea is still very warm.

Gardening when the rain stopped. A Sunday roast in the evening and a catch up on all the Downton Abbey episodes we had missed! It was very windy and it was howling round the house when we went to bed.
