I went to Specsavers to tell them my glasses are not right (again!) They sent them back last time to have the lens remade. No good.  I sat waiting 20 minutes for my appointment.

Well, they started saying maybe my eye test was incorrect so I took them to task over that. Really?! Then oh no, it may be the glasses. Quite honestly I don’t think he knew what he was talking about. Having worn glasses and been involved with optician professionals since I was 18 months old, to me he just didn’t know what he was saying! I was very patient listening and finally said I really wasn’t satisfied and wanted my money back. I suspected this may happen so I had the forethought to take my prescription sunglasses with me.  He had to speak to his superior. Finally I received a refund for the lot. I will now have to look for an optician who actually knows what they are doing.

West Ham were playing in the evening. Sadly they lost.

Thursday 9th January 2025

A walk around the town with Ellie and we met our neighbour who works at Manston processing centre who we chatted to for ages.

Back home ordered Lou’s birthday present (suggestions from Rhys) and also called Specsavers to tell them my new varifocals still don’t work properly, in spite of being realigned and made another appointment. I also have sponsored my new Guide Dog Clover now that Grace has gone to her new owner. Let’s hope Clover is just as clever.

Wednesday 8th January 2025

We have had a few cold days but no snow which seems to have landed in a lot of the country.

A long walk over the fields with Ellie and then indoors for the rest of the day.

Holidays appear to be on sale at the moment and so of course we started looking and found exactly what we wanted for next December…..booked!

Spurs v Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in the evening with their newly signed goalkeeper. And yes we won although I think I spent half the match holding my breath!

Friday 3rd January 2025

Woke up to -2 degrees and a frozen car but that didn’t stop us defrosting the car and we drove to Wingham orchards and by the time we arrived, the sun was out and a lovely day even if it was cold!

From the blog I follow in Madeira……………..

“Was the holiday and private jet travel complimentary? Mr. Starmer and his family departed Madeira this morning.

I understand the Prime Minister rented a villa from an unnamed island company, due to concerns about potential reputational damage, as they were unaware how unpopularhe was in the UK. This is understandable.

The villa rental was not paid for by the Prime Minister. This was, as suspected, a matter of public and media scrutiny.

The family departed this morning. A contact observed a private jet departing for Leeds Bradford Airport, potentially belonging to the Prime Minister.”

In the afternoon we had a long video call from Rhys and Lou as they were sitting in the sun on their terrace. But they had been painting all morning. I know they really needed this break even if they are working for some of it.

Later we completed series 2 of SAS Rogue Heroes.

1st January 2025

Wishing you all a very HAPPY and HEALTHY 2025

After not the best year for Lou and Rhys I am happy to say they are on their way to their house in Spain.

It always surprises me how anyone can start on the alcohol at 7 in the morning! I guess they are so pleased to be going at last after a couple of false starts this year. Happy Holidays both of you.

Having said that we started a bottle of fizz at 11 am! We sat and watched the Hootenanny.

We knew Starmer had gone to see the best NYE fireworks in the world (Madeira) but what an abuse of power!

The rest of the day we spent binge watching series 2 of SAS Rogue Heroes.
