Each year around Torin’s anniversary of leaving us Mal and I go for a “celebration of Torin’s life” meal. That is what we did today and went to Canterbury to the Cooks Tale restaurant. I could not believe it, in fact you couldn’t make it up. Just across from us were two fellas, one of them very loud mouthed and they were talking (shouting) about depression/death/suicide. For goodness sake, people go out to eat to relax. I have to say, he was winding me up so much I was shaking. Mal went and spoke to the waiter, explained and asked if we could move tables and bless him the waiter gave us a lovely table the other side of the restaurant. As I got up I turned to him and told him we were moving because I no longer wanted to listen to his morbid conversation and felt sure nobody else did! He just glared at me, no apology nothing. People really have changed!
However having moved, we had a really lovely three course lunch and our waiter was so lovely. The food was excellent and as well as three courses we had amuse bouche in between. They describe all the food as they serve it. The restaurant was very busy and the waiter brought Mal the wrong dessert. Mal told him not to worry he would have it. He told Mal no he must have what he ordered, so told him to eat the one he had and then he would bring the correct one, so he had TWO!!
