Saturday 24th December 2022

We went into Deal to have lunch and a wander around as it has such a lovely vibe over there on Saturdays. Much livelier than Sandwich, sad to say.

In the evening watching Christmas TV.

Friday 23rd December 2022

I went to get some shopping even though it was raining but it got heavier and heavier. I went  into Lidl first and they had reduced a lot of their meat , obviously before Christmas. I bought a joint of 30 day matured beef to go in the freezer but when he put it through the till he told me it wasn’t the reduced price but 30 % cheaper!! It worked out about £2.80 a kilo. So, of course yes, I went back in and bought 2 more, all to go in the freezer before I went to Sainsburys! I hope anyone who doubts the quality of Lidl and Aldi has been watching the taste testing on TV!! (Them against Fortnum and Mason, where they came out far better then F & M on some of their items!) I try a lot of their food, some isn’t as good so I don’t buy it again and some is better, and mainly cheaper!

That was as far as I managed to get as the rain was torrential and I was really getting soaked, car parks were flooding which meant even my feet were wet and so I came home.  Of course Mal and Ellie had got very wet on their walk as well.

We drove to a garden centre in the afternoon to buy a new pot as I had ordered a highly perfumed rose . As we got out of the car at the garden centre it started raining again!

Thursday 22nd December 2022

Today we have Marlene for the day while Lou, Rhys and co go visiting Lou’s dad and step mum. We took the dogs for a long walk. Marlene was on squirrel watch most of the walk.

She can’t be let off the lead or she would run and never come back!

Best friends!

Lou and Rhys stayed for a drink when they came to collect her. We don’t see them very often as they are so busy.

Wednesday 21st December 2022

Over the fields with Ellie before it rained.

We had our Ramsgate Red Hatters Christmas lunch at Smugglers in Birchington. Smugglers is usually packed this close to Christmas but not today, quite a few empty tables. The service was very good and the food as well. Two hatters called at the last minute, both too ill to attend but we managed to cancel them in time. A good time was had by all thank goodness. We had a secret santa as well.

Tuesday 20th December 2022

We went to Mal’s sister, Marion to take her Christmas presents.  After spending some time with her and finding out if she had her heating payments etc sorted, we took Ellie to Botany Bay. It was so lovely with the blue sky, it was much warmer and we had the beach to ourselves.

It really is lovely down there.

Unfortunately, as the sky was so pretty, I took my camera out, had it in my hand as I fell down a hole in the sand. Consequently my camera is now full of sand.  I took the photos on my phone!

Back home and I have a plastic bowl in the bedroom for Ellie to drink out of as her bed is there, next to the bed. I took some scissors out to trim my fringe and dropped the scissors and they went point down into the bowl and made a massive hole in it, soaked the bedroom carpet. If that wasn’t bad enough, I came downstairs and Mal had just knocked a whole mug of tea over his laptop and the CREAM ARMCHAIR!!

Because it was the first decent drying day, I had bedding on the line. I know I feed the birds but they didn’t have to repay me with poo-ing all over a sheet! Back in the wash.

What a disastrous day.

We then caught up with SAS Rogue Heroes.

Monday 19th December 2022

My volunteer day at the Cancer Research shop. We have been told by the area manager that we should be signing up one Gift Aid Customer donater a day! This is not that easy, especially where our shop is as there are a lot of elderly people in the village who don’t pay tax. BUT we managed to sign four up today! Our takings were also good in spite of less footfall than usual. I think most people were at Westwood buying Christmas food and presents.

Southern water are failing again. Another water main burst today, no water in  Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate and Manston.

Sunday 18th December 2022

Another cold day walking Ellie over the fields, I always warm her feet as soon as we get home.

Mal cooked a roast and we watched the World Cup final. I had France in the family sweepstake, Tariq had Argentina…….and down to penalties! Ah well, congratulations Tariq. A very good final.
