We walked Ellie along the river. I then went to collect Paula and Jilly from Birchington station.

They wanted to see the sea, so I drove them down to Minnis Bay and we sat outside the Minnis having a drink. Paula and Jilly both had tea. When the waiter came to see if we wanted anything else, Jilly said the tea wasn’t hot. He didn’t offer any more but knocked the teas off the bill!

We then drove back to Birchington and had a wander around the shops and I went to the butchers for one of their delicious huge turkey breast roasts. We had one at Christmas and this one will be nice for the bank holiday.

It was then time for their caravan to be ready and so I drove them to the holiday park. They have a nice caravan. They asked for a disabled one, so the bedrooms were quite huge.

I took them a “welcome pack”, to start them off…..bread, butter etc etc and of course a bottle of wine!

Oscar was involved in a football tournament in London, which Lou and Rhys took him to. So, we had Ollie and Josie all day. We went into Margate and met up with Tris and Violet. We all had lunch together and then went for a walk along the sea front. It was still very windy but at least it was dry.

Of course walking back along the seafront we all had to have ice creams!

Back in Sandwich and we did a little bit of weeding at the allotments.

We had a lovely day and Lou and Rhys came to collect them about 9pm, having got frozen sitting watching football all day!

No need to water the allotment, we have had plenty of rain, we just need some more sun!

I went to Westwood, some bits for when Paula arrives next week and I also bought some bedding plants and weed suppressing membrane. Mal went to the allotment and I sorted out the garden…until it rained!

Early evening we had a real heavy hail stone storm. My poor new tender plants! What has happened to the weather?!

What a windy night and still very windy in the morning.

After her walk Ellie is happy playing with her teddies.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon. I bought a very small acer in the morning and so re – potted it and rescued some things that had blown around the garden!

We went to George V1 park, a coffee and a walk with Ellie and lots of other dogs for her to play with. The park is doing a “No mow May”. What a good idea.

We had a windy afternoon at the allotment. At least there was no rain. Weeding again, a lot of bindweed is coming up. We then went to Mal’s allotment and between the two we are going to have so much fruit this summer!

Later in the afternoon we booked a day in London in July. Tickets for Hairspray which were cancelled last year and also for my birthday this year Maddie and River gave me a voucher for a 3 course meal plus champagne at the Savoy, so we will be combining the two! At last things we can look forward to.

We watched Great British Railway Journeys in the evening. Tonight’s journey was from Deal to Margate. Interesting.

Another nice sunny morning. I had to get some shopping. Ellie and I sat in the garden in the afternoon and then the rain started again! Mal was at the allotment weeding, always something to do there.

I hope the antibiotics are sorting my tooth out as they are not doing much for my stomach!

A poor Spurs game in the evening followed by a good result from Hammers.

Sol came round to visit before going to work and brought my birthday present,bless him! That was a lovely start to the day. Mal made breakfast and I opened all my other presents and cards. I am very lucky all the things I received.

It was nice and sunny and so we drove to Minnis Bay with Ellie, gave her a walk on the beach and then had our lunch in the garden at “The Waves” which is right on the sea front.

It really was lovely sitting in the sun by the sea . After lunch we watched the black clouds coming in. We stopped at Quex Park on the way home.

In the evening we went to the George and Dragon for a birthday meal with Lou, Rhys, Ollie, Oscar and Josie.

This was followed by birthday cake!

I had a really lovely birthday and still can’t quite believe I am 71!!
