I had a quick shopping trip while Mal walked Ellie. It was a miserable drizzly day. Too wet to go to the allotment.

In the afternoon I went into Deal to get my hair cut.

We walked Ellie, listening to a pair of very loud woodpeckers and continued on to the allotment. It is surprising how excited you can get over a new pile of wood chips! Of course we did no more than start shovelling another 8 huge bags and laying them on top of membrane and stamping them down. We have quite a few layers in some places, hopefully stopping the weeds.

A big house clean in the afternoon, it gets left a bit now we keep going to the allotment!

Ellie hadn’t been to the beach for quite a while and so we decided to go to Minnis Bay. It was VERY cold or should I say a very cold wind. Ellie still goes in the sea whatever the weather. Crazy dog. But at least the sun was out and no rain.

From there we went to Westwood to buy some roofing felt for the two sheds.

Lou’s birthday!

I went to Demelza and finished a little early as we were all going out for dinner. We met at The Crispin . I have to say the waitress was excellent and couldn’t do enough for us. What a refreshing change. Even when she brought the birthday cake out she asked if we would like cream or ice cream as well!

Poor Rhys was suffering from toothache and dosing himself on pain killers which meant he didn’t want the spicy Caribbean food. It was a lovely evening.

Tris and Violet came round and so we went to the allotment to do some more work and Violet planted some broad beans.

We went and had Sunday lunch at the Fleur de Lis in Sandwich. It is only £4.95. The food is good but the service was awful. A good thing we weren’t in a hurry. We finished our mains and the dessert which we had ordered with the main took over an hour and still had not appeared, nor had they been to clear the table, nor anyone else’s! When the desserts did arrive, one of them was wrong. It was then time for Tris and Violet to catch their train back to London.

We walked Ellie, Mal took Ellie around the cricket pitch and I popped into the Co op and when I came out Ellie just sat in the middle of the field waiting for me and wouldn’t budge. She is getting very stubborn. Back home and I cooked some food and put it in the slow cooker so that we could have a late lunch.

Oscar played football in the morning and was Man of the Match, bless him.

So, it was down to the allotment for all of us and a lot more work. The kids (and Lou) love it. Well, we all do. Josie and Mal have made a temporary area where Ellie can stay as she was trying to root about in an old compost pile and there were bees in there. It is looking a lot better now.

Dinner was ready when we arrived home.
