It seemed a lot cooler and so we took Ellie down the river and let her have a good run around the cricket ground. They have cut a lot of the high grass by the side of the river and she decided she was going to get in the water. It is disgusting and full of green algae which we have all been warned to keep dogs away from. I think she is getting more and more stubborn and she totally ignored me and went in! We had to drag her out and wash her down at the tap at the side of the pavilion. There is a drinking water bowl there under the tap so we had to soak her and try and get as much off as we could. We then had to bring her straight home and into the bath!
She can be hard work at times but retrievers do love the water. Previously she has just kept with us and stayed away. Perhaps she was getting hot. At least she is well behaved in the bath and even tries to get in on her own.
In the afternoon Mal and I went to Wingham Wildlife Park.
