I had a “click and collect” order at Asda so I went to Westwood to collect it. Along with this order was a Scoville stock pot. I ordered the Scoville because they are such good pans and never stick. I queued 20 minutes in the car by click and collect. When it was my turn in the queue the man came out and as I was loading things into the car he told me that they had a substitute item which was of course the stock pot. I told him I didn’t want a substitute, it was the Scoville one I wanted. He said that’s OK, we’ll refund the money, he took the alternative pan and went to walk away. I told him I had no proof I hadn’t accepted the pan so I was going nowhere. In the end he signed my order sheet saying I had not accepted it. I then went into the store to ask the Manager why, when I ordered it 3 days ago no one had told me it wasn’t in stock when I had paid for it. He said it was nothing to do with him, the click and collect was done elsewhere. I also said Surely I should get something to say I had refused the other pan and therefore needed a refund, as I had no proof. He really wasn’t bothered.
While I was in the store, I thought I may as well get another couple of bits. In the homeware section, guess what they had SIX of the Scoville stock pots!!! Back to customer services and I asked to see the Manager again (Nigel Ward). I had the stockpot in my trolley and told him I would take it. He then told me a refund would be coming to me so I had to pay for it again! I told him their customer service was not at all helpful and the fact they told me I had to wait 10 days for the refund to go through, diabolical. I said I wouldn’t be shopping in his store again as I had found him most unhelpful and in fact he couldn’t care less, to which he replied “Your choice”.
In spite of the fact last week’s saga was the non stick roasting pan and the reply from Tesco was basically “if you don’t like the terms of the 20 year guarantee, it was nothing to do with them, then return it”, I wasn’t going to leave it there. As soon as I was home I phoned Asda head office. The first two people were useless but I did establish that all the goods were picked from the store (Nigel had lied to me, as I already knew!) I spent so long holding on that I eventually put the phone down and then called again asking for “complaints”. The customer service guy said he could deal with it, would send a full report to the Head Office Managers and also a copy to the store. He also said he would send me an evoucher for £5 for the inconvenience. It seems there is one person at Asda who cares!
Mal’s answer to everything is order online…this is what happened when I did. Along with this we have about 9 months free Amazon Prime because they can’t deliver when they say it should be and each time they say “Have another free month.”
By this time I was exhausted!
Prior to collecting the order I did manage a couple more Christmas presents from M&S. They are giving gift receipts now that last until January, so that was good. Apart from that I am a Sparks member so everything is 20% off until Monday!
This was one of the bouquets of flowers I was sent on Wednesday, still looking good. These were delivered from our local florist in Sandwich, a great shop and everything is always very fresh.
