We took Ellie with us and walked around the town and the Saturday market. There were only about 6 stalls! I went to Pilgrims Hospice shop. The manager chatted to me and asked me to consider changing and working for them! She even gave me an application form! Maybe as someone may be leaving in Canterbury, we’ll see.

We then took Ellie for her walk.

Mal went to the allotment later and my “bestie” phoned, so we were on the phone for a long time. I haven’t seen her , Paula, for so long but it is one of those friendships that we can just pick up where we left off no matter how long it has been. She is thinking of coming to stay for a while, I hope she does.

We watched the Germany v Sweden game in the evening. Sweden is one of my teams so a little annoyed when Germany scored that final goal!

Ellie and I were up and out at 5.30, a walk along the river and it was becoming warm even that early. There were loads of other dog walkers out, one a little terrier who attacked Ellie! Thankfully it didn’t break the skin, one benefit of a thick coat! Ellie was quite shocked….perhaps the owner should keep it on a lead from now on.

It made me very sad this morning to hear about the houses that were built to the right and in front of our old villa, nearer to Incesu. They were built on Hasan Sungur’s land and are now to be demolished. I personally took photos of build “progress” for one of the owners. I know at least two of the people had paid £100,000. Scandalous. They have all lost all their money.

I went off to Herne Common to have my hair cut at Kim Heath, where I went last time. Dan does it for me.

In the evening we went to Kent Uni and watched the Urban Folk Quartet. We have never seen them before but so glad we went, so much energy and very entertaining. A lot of the concerts we go to are organised by Folk in the Barn. Last night there were only 60 tickets sold and Gulbenkian is a fair sized theatre which was a shame for the quartet but meant we all had more fun as it was much more intimate, even dancing at the end. It was difficult to keep still to their music.

The day to take the littlies to school. I dropped them off and then popped into Aldi. They had such bargain plants, so I bought 2 sunflowers, one for us and one for Lou, they were 99p each!

When Lou arrived back we walked the dogs to Reculver. They love it and although it is along the cliffs, Ellie managed to find some mud to paddle in!

I watched the tennis before it was time to collect the kids from school. Lou and Rhys were out on the drive cleaning the inside of the taxis. Imagine my surprise when I went to collect the kids, opened my car and they had cleaned all mine too. That was so nice of them.

In the evening we watched an awful Argentina v Croatia game. SIX yellow cards!

Thought for the Day – “Silence is golden ….unless you have kids, then silence is just suspicious.”

I didn’t sleep particularly well and so I was up early and Ellie and I went for a long river walk all the way down to the golf course. So many birds around, obviously getting a lot of flying insects from the river.

I do hate seeing this and there is more and more of it going on, people selling every square inch of land, chopping trees down in their thousands, to build houses. Is no one wondering why we are getting more and more floods? Don’t they know what trees do? I am amazed or is the word bemused?!

We try and eat out once a week if we can and as I am a Privilege card holder at Ambrette in Canterbury and we haven’t been there for quite a while, we decided to go for lunch. Not the best day (heatwise) to be going into the city! There was only one other couple and us in there! BUT the food is delicious. They do the best chicken biriyani ever! You can taste all the individual spices.

The waiter chatted to us, he came from Gran Canaria and so of course the subject of football came up!

Of course we watched the games when we got home.

Mal, Ellie and I went for a long walk down by the river. It looks like the media students are out filming! Mal said they must be 6th formers as their equipment was so old!

I popped in the Co op on the way back. Two pizzas and 5 Budweisers for a fiver!! They always have crazy deals on.

We then went to the farm shop and bought some plants, including cacti and more compost.

Later I watched Murray being knocked out of Queens!

Demelza day. Linda came in for a visit with her walking stick, she has done so well with her replacement hip. I am sure she will be back at work before long.

Fran surprisingly was working in the afternoon. She was supposed to still be in Australia but came back a month early!

Meanwhile Petro designed a craft window, I bought a few things!

Of course in the evening we watched the England game. I just wish everyone would stop moaning about them and saying they are no good….give them a chance! I have faith in them they are more hungry than the older millionaires.

Thought for the Day – “When you seem something beautiful in someone, tell them. It may take a second to say but for them it would last a lifetime.”

Sunday 17th June 2018

Grandad took the kiddlies and the dogs out for a walk while I prepared food for a BBQ. I know it’s Father’s Day but Mal volunteered to do a BBQ. While they were our M

Grandad bought them all “Unicones”. They are like Cornettos but have unicorn colours all through them!

Tris and Violet arrived by train and a little later Lou and Rhys arrived . They didn’t get home until 3am! Not easy to get back from Wembley with so many people attending the concert.

I think they were a little tired.

It was nice to have three dads together for Father’s Day but my thoughts were also with Scarlet and Jack who we have been cut off from by their mother. They used to love staying with us and all the cousins going to the beach together. I just don’t understand. It is bad enough they have lost their dad, why are they losing Nanny and Grandad too? It is so cruel. One day they will learn the truth, Mal and I will make sure of that. Their mother is making a huge mistake, whatever her reasons.

In the evening Mal and I went to see the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain. They are so good and I highly recommend. Don’t let the word orchestra put you off, they are highly talented and very funny and well worth going to see.
