Mal decided that he wanted his hair cut and so we went into Broadstairs. I dropped him off and Ellie and I went on to Stone Bay. It’s so nice on that beach. Dogs are allowed before 10 am or after 6, so that’s good.  Ellie loves it down there, in the sea and then rolling in all the sand and digging huge holes and of course playing with all the other dogs down there.

I met Mal in the town and we popped in to see Deb, Mal’s sister in her charity shop, TAG .Ellie was thoroughly spoilt in there with the girls giving her treats.

I don’t think I need to say Mal is spending all his spare time at the allotment, so he was down there in the afternoon.

Ellie and I were out early again. I left Mal sleeping (snoring!!) It was a lovely morning but because it was so early there was dew everywhere and the paths are becoming very overgrown. By the time we arrived home my jeans were soaking up to the knees!

The giant rhubarb across the road by the lake really fascinates me. It is huge and then in autumn all dies away again. The apples in the orchard are starting to grow, a good thing as I am finding it increasingly difficult to find English apples in the shops and I refuse to buy foreign apples when we are surrounded by orchards and they now have the technology to store them year round.

Mal went off to the allotment and I sorted more out in the cellar. A man was sitting opposite our house and taking photos of our bedroom window so Mal asked him what he was doing. It seems we have a spotted fly catcher nesting in the roses!!

In the evening we went to St Mary’s Church in Sandwich to see Fairport Convention @50. Yes, 50 years in the business and no we never get fed up with them as they have 50 years of repertoire and some very talented song writers in the band, past and present. I don’t know whether it was because it was in a church but I had a very weird feeling when Simon spoke of Sandy Denny, with a lot of emotion and then sang her “Who knows where the time goes.” What is even more spooky is the photo I took where you can see a female face in front of Simon when there were no females in front of us!

A good evening, nice venue but the seats were hard, sitting from 7.30 until 11! Folk in the Barn tend to use different, unusual venues and this was one we hadn’t been to before.
