Scarlet and Jack’s leaving day. Their mum wants them back today. We had them staying to help her out as she had an operation so an ideal time for them to visit. We took Ellie out and she really has become attached to Scarlet.

We did spot a lot more mushrooms including a shaggy ink cap.

Torin came to collect Scarlet and Jack, did a quick turn around and took them straight back, not ideal but he has had a bad stomach and so wanted to get home. Very sad seeing them go. We had a lot of fun.

We had a big tidy up after they left and then watched the Spurs game. A shame they only managed a draw.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back IF you are in the UK. If you are in north Cyprus it is an entirely different story. Now that is going to be confusing, the north and the south have different times! A united island?? Well, they can’t even agree on the time so things are not looking too positive.

They did make me laugh, they even dug holes together!

After lunch we took Scarlet and Jack back to Wingham Wildlife park, for their last visit of the holiday. They do love that place.  In the evening we watched Roald Dahl’s “Mathilde”.

We all took Ellie out and then drove to Dover Castle. The twins wanted to go last time they were here but we didn’t have time. Even better this week being Halloween. They had creepy crafts and the ghost walk. It was really very good, well done Dover Castle. We are members of English Heritage and so everything was free. They really enjoyed themselves. Jack did get a little concerned when one of the ghosts wanted to “take these two children away”!

In the evening we all sat and watched the BFG.

Mal spent quite a lot of the morning on the phone as there is a college who are trying to head hunt him. We also had to dish out cough medicine and  throat sweets  to Scarlet and Jack before we could do anything else. Eventually we all went out for a long walk.

It was Mals and my wedding anniversary, which we are sort of postponing until a later date!  We decided to take them out for lunch so at least I wouldn’t have to cook. We went to Chom Choms in Canterbury. They  like it there as they can eat as much as they want  and they have desserts, and an ice cream machine and jelly beans!! Well, they enjoyed themselves. Mal bought me a lovely bouquet of flowers and tickets to see Michael Ball and Alfie Boe. I guess we will have our celebration then!

The main thing was the kids enjoyed themselves in spite being a little ill. Jack seems to be improving now. We stopped on the way home to buy Scarlet some new jeans as she seems to be having a growth spurt and the ones she has brought with her are short and tight! Although they are twins she is a lot taller than Jack now.

Jack woke us up in the early hours and had croup. We think he panicked which was making it worse so we had to calm him down and we managed to get him with his head over a bowl of steam which really helped and some Olbas to breath in. Scarlet went back to sleep but Jack couldn’t, so he listened to a story.

Later we took him to the pharmacy to check if there was anything else we could do. No, we had done everything right! My car was also checked into Halfords as my guess is that the clutch is going and they agreed, so now we just have to wait for a time when I can get it replaced.

Back home and we had lunch and then of course the twins wanted to go to Wingham Wildlife again! They spent quite a long while in the soft play area and then we went out to look at some more of the animals. None of us get tired of going there. We also watched the tigers being fed.

 

Jacks croup started again late evening and Scarlet said her heart started racing. Mal and I had visions of being up all night! But we did manage to settle them both down.

We asked the twins where they would like to go and they both said Wingham Wildlife Park, So, after walking Ellie we went off and took a packed lunch. They have a lot of ghosts and ghoulies around the park, ready for Halloween.

After looking at the animals, we went into the soft play area. They do love it in there. That was the next two hours!

Scarlet and Jack watched Zootopia in the evening.

Torin and I went to Chicksands woods with the three dogs.

Mid morning we brought the twins back for half term. Tris and Violet were visitng Margate for the day so we went straight to the beach to meet them. We had fun on the beach and they also had quad bike racing and off road bikes which Jack loved watching.

We stayed at the sea front until Tris and Violet had to catch the train back to London.

Back home eventually, Ellie seemed worn out after running all around the beach. The kids weren’t!!
