We walked around the orchards, even more apples are falling now, they really are ready to pick. Another apple for breakfast!

We then went into Margate to the Old Kent Market. There is a lovely lady, Michelle who has a unit there and sells some very pretty wooden plaques that she designs.

When we first moved in here she made two lovely plaques with ‘Mind your head’ on them, so people don’t crash their heads on our low doorways. Nobody can ever find our cottage as none of the properties in the road have numbers. They all have names, so I asked if she would make me a plaque for outside on our gate. I showed her where it had to go and she designed one. She always says if I don’t like them she will make me another but I love them. She has coated it with several layers of wax so it should last well. AND she only charged me £8. Hopefully now people will be able to find us!

From there we went on to Birchington to buy BBQ meat for tomorrow as the butcher there is the best and we have used him for years.  The car park in Birchington has gone up, obviously for the summer/tourists. The minimum payment is an hour and I only wanted meat, so I did my ‘Pay it forward’ and gave the remaining three quarters of an hour ticket to an old lady fumbling to find enough change bless her. Speaking of which ‘Pay it Forward’ is my all time favourite film (and book!)

I was cleaning out the car in the afternoon and Mal removing all the leaves from the front lawn and then it started raining. It seems a long time since we have had any rain! I hope this isn’t a bad sign for our BBQ tomorrow.

Over the fields and through the woods with Ellie. We spoke to a lady who lives a few houses down from us about the 70 houses they are building in the village. They appear to have stopped the building and have only sold one and she said that the builder bought that one and is renting it out! Who knows, villages are notorious for gossip but I know the way they have thrown them up, I wouldn’t want to spend that money on any of them. It is obvious though that the building work has slowed down, almost to a stop.

It is the meteorological first day of autumn and I could see it in the woods, some brown leaves had fallen already.

A day of cleaning and then we went into Canterbury for a meal. We went to  Marlowe’s.

We had a Groupon deal and it’s always good to try places we haven’t been before. The starters were very good and then I ordered sea bass fillets. It was so tasteless I let Mal try and he agreed, it could have been any fish. Perhaps I have been spoilt in Cyprus always having freshly caught sea bass! It was also swimming in butter. When the waitress asked how our meals were I told her it was overcooked and tasteless but I said I didn’t want to make a fuss as we were eating at half price. I certainly would not have wanted to pay £15.95 for it. The restaurant is in the centre of Canterbury so we had a wander along the main drag. Oh goodness, I saw this on one of the shop windows…..

It is officially the first day of the meteorological autumn but even so!
We went home and then my stomach was upset. I am sure it was the fish. I don’t think we will be going back to that restaurant!
