The largest drop in the price of gold for 30 years – Turkish Cypriot claim to Gold Reserves.

We have been watching yet another of our beautiful mountains in front of us being dug up. I wonder what they are going to build up there. More empty houses or perhaps it is for  the cable car planned to come from the  coast line/zoo/shopping centre or whatever the latest plans are. The land just below this belongs to Hasan Sungur, a deluge of half built empty houses, becoming destroyed by the weather. We remember when we bought our land and we were told the entire mountain that side of us would never be built on because it was government land. Mmmm, someone was telling porkies….sound familiar?!

The men came at 4 in the afternoon to instal our hob. I had to laugh when they took the old one off, it had been stuck down to the granite with Blu tac! Perhaps they didn’t have the correct materials 10 years ago. Ha ha. They fitted it and left all the bits of wire, rubbish and the old hob and the box and polystyrene all over the kitchen floor….bang went their tip.

It was an overcast day and so in the morning we went into Girne. Now that we have our new oven and our hob is 10 years old, we decided to have a look at a hob to match. We went into several shops and the majority had no problem reducing the price for us. The one we chose in the end was in the Beko shop and she reduced it by 150tl. If you are buying anything fairly large always ask for a discount. One shop wouldn’t give us one, so we just moved to the next one. As well as the 150tl off, they are coming to fit it tomorrow.   Good service, well that is if they come tomorrow but I feel sure they will.

So, the weather forecast was wrong and it didn’t rain, so in the afternoon we went for a walk, with Mal continually saying “I could have carried on painting!” But then we wouldn’t have seen this lovely butterfly.

The storm and rain started in the evening and what a cracker it was too. I love sitting under the terrace watching the lightning going around the mountains and out at sea.

It seems as though the Russians may be coming to the north! I can’t see them putting up with the scandalous builders that the Brits have. I don’t know about them coming, three have already arrived here, one opposite, one below the end of our garden and another next door to David and Kenny.

More painting the outside of the house, the weather forecast is still saying “chance of rain” tomorrow.

I went to Ileli, mainly to get Cyprus Today and just a few other fresh things before we continued the decorating. The weather forecast suggests a chance of rain on Monday, so we will have to get a move on as it is the outside we are doing! All fun in the sun!!

Happy 3rd Birthday to our grand daughter Violet.

Tris put Violet on the web cam, so that she could open our presents we gave her with us watching. She opened them, thanked us and then said goodbye, I guess she wanted to play with them!

The sun was out, so time to start the mammoth job of preparing to paint the outside of the house. Oh what fun!! By the time we had finished for the day we hadn’t thought about dinner and so we went to Hillside for fish, chips, mushy peas and an Efes for 20tl!

It always amuses me when people ask us what we do all day. With half an acre of garden and a house, I don”t know but we seem to be busy. Anyone I speak to here says the same, why with these houses is there always something needs doing? We do try and go for a walk every day and the rest of the day just fills up. Then of course there is Bargain Hunters and NCFP and my blog to keep going!

Speaking of NCFP, looks as though someone has been upset as it is under attack.  You will find it here while our genius sorts it for us. I wonder if it is something to do with a certain “AG”. Mal and co are one step ahead!!!

Karen is doing a mini trip around the UK visiting her friends with the twins. I like this picture! I’d know a Premier Inn anywhere!

All sorts of problems are continuing in the south.

Another day outside sorting gardens as the weather was so warm.

Just one cloud in the sky which looked very odd rising from behind the mountain.

I heard from Torin. I thought his globe trotting days for work were over but he is on his way to Holland!
