Mal and I went down for a walk along the beach and also had a look at the progress with the new Merit.  I guess they are hoping to fill all these new hotels. We then went on to Bamboo Beach market but they had only just started setting the stalls up, so then went to Pine Bay Boot Fair. Well, that has really shrunk since our last visit!

Tris and Violet came on the web cam in the morning and Violet had made me a lovely Mother’s Day card “for Nanny”, bless her. It didn’t help the internet was going on and off all day. Of course other wishes and cards, not quite the same when you are 2,000 miles away but Mal prepared all the meals so I had a day off. We watched the Spurs v Liverpool match later. In fact I also had the Man U v Chelsea game on my laptop at the same time!

I decided (still on the hunt for glace cherries!) that Bell’s always stocked things liked that, so we went to Bells. We haven’t been in there for a long time and what a shock, half the freezers were empty and anything, including cherries, that we looked for they didn’t have.

So, back to Ileli, the one tub we mislaid had totally disappeared. Well, we hadn’t tried Atakara or Dolmaci…nothing! I may well give up now. We did buy some squash, really nice roasted and also for making soup and of course Cyprus Today.

The rest of the day in the garden, a beautiful day.

Mal and I decided to go for a walk in the mountains. We haven’t found a Bee Orchid yet this Spring and I wanted to get a picture. It would have been a lovely walk but it started to rain half way round but at least it wasn’t heavy. It did mean I wasn’t going to trek through all the long undergrowth looking for the Bee Orchid…another day. But we did collect a lot of pine cones which we use on the log burner and for BBQ’s when the weather gets a bit warmer. But I did find a very unusual colour anenome.

More gardening and then in the evening we watched the fifth and final episode of Mayday. What can I say? Mal reckons he has wasted 5 hours of his life!

A day out in the garden again with Mal tackling more of the hedges.Never ending! At least we have Mustafa’s permission to go on his land when Mal gets round to it, to cut the other side of the hedge. Mustafa was turning his soil the other side of the hedge and making an awful row with his tractor, which started just as we sat down outside for lunch, so we moved to the other side of the house.

In the evening we watched a very good Spurs v Inter Milan match, very good because Spurs won 3-0!

It was very windy during the night and Mal even got up at one stage to check how many things had blown in the pool, thankfully none.

We went to the shops as I wanted to buy some glace cherries to make a cake. Three supermarkets had none and then finally in Ileli’s they had just one tub. I put them in the basket but when we arrived home, they weren’t in our bags, nor had we been charged for them. I’m guessing as there was a lot of rubbish around the till, the girl hadn’t spotted them and we hadn’t noticed as we had quite a lot of shopping. Ah well will have to go on another hunt for them tomorrow! No cake making today.

The news from Cyprus Today. Let’s hope there is not a blackout at the weekend! I don’t think it took Talat to tell us there is a dysfunctional Parliament.

Nice and sunny for the rest of the day. Lunch outside in the sun but by the evening the temperature had dropped and we had the log burner on.

We have been watching Mayday on the TV, so “who dunnit”?! Plenty of suspects from episode 1.

First thing in the morning we had a storm which was closely followed by a HAILstone downpour! Just after that the sun came out.

The rest of the day remained sunny and so we were out in the garden.

In the evening we watched the Man U v Real Madrid game. A good game and I guess the referees decision is final in spite of no intent…..Man U are out!

What a storm we had during the night. At 4.00am I gave up and got up.

True to their word, early afternoon the men from Arçelik arrived with our new oven. They installed it and took away all the packaging, the old oven and also took the old microwave for us. We were very impressed.
