Sunday 10th July 2011

Rosie and I were up at 5 and went down to the beach to see the sunrise. Mal didn’t fancy that o’clock in the morning and so stayed in bed. Rosie had a good swim.

We came back and Shirley and Steve wanted to go to the car boot at Pine Bay, which we did. Very few’car boots’ there, so we drove to a couple of beaches, Mare Monte and Camelot.

A more relaxing day for the men.

Saturday 9th July 2011

The weekend off for Mal and Steve and so we spent the day in Guzelyurt, stopping a the reservoir on the  way. We visited the museum and Saint Mamas Church and then walked round the market. We then went on to Soli. Not far from Lefke we stopped  for a Turkish coffee and then decided to have wraps to eat as well. We had chicken wraps and I don’t know how they managed to get so much chicken in them! Also 4 Turkish coffees and a water each, the total cost 20tl!

Friday 8th July 2011

Another work day for Steve and Mal, they started the other side of the terrace. Meanwhile Shirley and I went out for lunch with the ‘X’ committee. We went to Morelli, reasonable prices, quite a good choice but they didn’t do Turkish coffee. It seems that less and less restaurants are making it now.

Thursday 7th July 2011

We thought it was time Shirley and Steve had a bit of a holiday and so we took them to St Hilarion Castle. That was the first stop and then we went on to Bellapais Abbey. Back home and a swim and then in the evening we went to Silver Rocks for dinner with Christa, Robin and Leoni.

Wednesday 6th July 2011

Another day with Mal and Steve working on the terrace. Shirley and I went out to buy more supplies of cement etc. I don’t think Steve had realised how difficult it was to work in this heat!

They worked from early in the morning until 8.00pm!

Tuesday 5th July 2011

The work on the terrace began! Steve has the knowledge and Mal helped with the labouring (the easy bits!) As I guess is usual, the job is bigger than first thought…typical.

Monday 4th July 2011

It was Lou and Rhys’s first wedding anniversary, it must be old age but that didn’t seem a year ago.

Our swimming pool terrace had begun to dip in one area. We had a asked a couple of people for quotes, crazy money and also the scratching of the head gave us a clue that this may not be the final amount. I thought Steve had come on holiday but he said he was quite happy to sort it out for us.

So, investigation in the morning as to how bad the problem was. In the afternoon, we went to the yapi markets with Steve’s list of things he needed. Our intention was to go on to Bellapais but of course he then realised that some of the things you would use in the UK are not available here. In the end we didn’t have time to go to Bellapais, just ordered the things he needed.

They delivered them all that evening. Meanwhile we managed to find somewhere that sold shower rails for over the bath and he fitted that for us so at long last we now have a shower curtain in the bathroom.

More star gazing and watching meteorite showers.
