It was all very complicated but we returned our car to Hertz at Stansted as they wanted an arm and leg to drop it off at Luton airport along with the fact that we managed a very cheap weekend rate. As Torin was busy we caught the National Express back to Hitchin. And then train from Hitchin to his house. As we were sitting at Hitchin station waiting for the train a high speed goods train sped through right next to the platform, a lump of rock flew off the train and just missed Mal and I!! We told one of the men at the station and his reply was “yes, we keep telling them, that often happens.”

We were going to Luton airport next as we booked a cruise around another part of the Med

Pictures include Torin’s dogs, Brodie and Boo.

We packed (again) and drove to Torin’s and had an evening of playing with Jack and Scarlet. They have mastered language very well and chat away all the time now.

They don’t seem to have quite mastered which end their ‘potties’ are for!

We were so tired but I managed to go shopping (!) while Mal sorted out some of the return paper work for the exams. I have to say that I did get a bit fed up with the 3 for 2 offers and buy one get one free in the supermarkets, when I only want one!

We did have some delicious non dyed smoked haddock for our dinner courtesy of Asda, in one of their bags they seal with flavoured butter and ready for the oven

We were all up early and David ran us to Ercan airport. The Pegasus flight was OK. We arrived at Stansted and thankfully our hire car was large enough to fit the four of us in and all our luggage. Of course we had booked this before we knew Shirley and Steve were coming to stay. We took them home, had a cup of coffee with them and then back to the caravan.

In the evening Mal and I went to the Toby Carvery for dinner and also a quick sprint around Tesco. I forgot to say it was drizzling in Margate and about 18 degrees!

Wednesday 13th July 2011

Shirley, Mal and Steve went for a walk in the mountains whilst I did some much needed clearing up. As soon as they were back, they were finishing off the car port and Mal was grouting the tiles.

Another evening star gazing.

Mal took Rosie over to the kennels and we all went to bed early, ready for a  4.15 am rising in the morning to return to the UK. Shirley and Steve were returning with us.

The workers had a break and we went for a long walk along Guzelyali beach and a drink afterwards.

Back home and in the pool. Mal and Steve carried on with the car port. In the evening we went and had Kleftico in B and I and then on to Cyprus Queen for a few more drinks.

Monday 11th July 2011

Another early morning with the workers (Mal and Steve) this time repairing the grill at the bottom of the drive. It has almost been smashed to pieces by heavy lorries cutting the corner and driving over it.

They have also started on a car port.
