Well, the antibiotics certainly seem to be kicking in. It was the first morning that I took Rosie for a long walk in the mountains without getting totally out of breath. She loved it chasing in and out of the bushes and chasing her ball. I have to say what a difference the sun makes too.

Mal is still suffering in the UK with his cold.

Another sunny day, I didn’t wake up until 7.30 which is late for me, so Rosie and I went straight out. I haven’t really done much since I have been back so thought I had better start doing things like sorting out the pool, which was left on main drain and so has quite a lot of leaves in it.

In the afternoon I watched the Man U game. Not a brilliant score against Liverpool 1-0 but I suppose it was a win. Spurs did much better.

There is a really nice photo of Cyprus taken from space.  The comment under the photo read “No borders or conflict visible from space….just breathtaking beauty like this view of the  island of Cyprus”.

The sun was out. What a difference it made after all those long dull, dreary days in the UK. I even managed to get my washing dry. I went out early in the morning to buy my antibiotics (to stop this turning to pneumonia as it has been going on too long now.) I bought Enfexia, 7 days treatment for 38 tl. They have to be taken twice daily after food. Hopefully I will improve now.

The builder came round and said that the flashing needs redoing all around the chimney on the roof and there may have been some other problem but I think I shut off then! He also helped me drag the rug so that it could dry in the sun (hopefully!) Of course he now has to report back. He did say that he was busy but to be honest as long as I can have the log burner going and no downpours are forecast in the forseeable future, so I will be happy to wait my turn.

David and Kenny invited me over for lunch with Seren, Colleen and son. It was a really delicious meal and I enjoyed myself, it made me feel a little more human after having sat on my own coughing for the last few days!

Mal was on his way up to Warwick Uni for an exam meeting. He sounded worse and said he had woken up with swollen eyes stuck together.  What a pair we are!

I have been drinking a lot of honey and lemon, nice to be back to Cyprus lemons which are so juicy and fresh. Another early night, I seem to have lost energy.

 

I had a phone call in the afternoon saying that Steve’s builder would be round the following day. I wouldn’t have gone out anyway as I really didn’t feel like it.

I had a long phone call with Mal, what fun when he wasn’t coughing I was!

 

I managed to drag the sodden rug out to under the terrace. It was so heavy as it was full of water and that was as far as it got.  I just didn’t have the strength to lift it over the railings. I then mopped up more water and lit the log burner. Things were looking up a little as the house warmed up. Mal had already emailed Steve (insurance) to ask him to visit and look at the water damage. I then went to Lena’s and collected Rosie. Lena invited me in for a coffee and so I caught up with all the gossip.

Rosie was very pleased to see me and as usual spent the rest of the day following me round everywhere.

I went and bought some shopping, fresh fruit and vegetables and also paid my annual fee for our Post Office Box….25tl.

I took Rosie for her evening walk and saw Kenny, so we had a long chat. It seems that the new dog at the Russian house barks non stop. He is kept outside and obviously doesn’t like it!

Mal well and truly has the ‘bug’ and I still keep on and on coughing and now realise I will have to go to the pharmacy to get antibiotics or it will never go. Steve is coming round tomorrow, so I will go to the pharmacy once he has been.

 

We were up early and I headed off for Stansted, leaving Mal behind coughing and spluttering but with plenty of medicenes, I also had a large amount packed in my case.

I returned the hire car only to be told that there was a stone chip on the windscreen which I would have to pay for. Of course I hadn’t noticed this as it was the passenger side. No, they couldn’t tell me how much it would be. So, I gathered all the paperwork together and posted it to Mal so that he can sort it out. Just one more problem to add to the long list. We have an annual hire car excess insurance.

I think I slept most of the way, I still felt very rough. It was a Pegasus flight and the plane was nearly full. Chris was waiting for me at Ercan, the plane was on time. Chris dropped me off at home and asked if everything was alright. I told him yes it was fine and it wasn’t until I sat down to have a cup of tea that I felt my feet squelch on the wet rug.  I had been told that there had been a lot of rain two days ago and obviously the repair to our chimney had not worked and the living room floor was soaked. I went to bed!!!

I felt lousy all day and whatever bug I had, Mal has now got it!  I attempted to pack ready to fly back to Cyprus the following day.  Sadly Mal has to stay behind and work for a few weeks.

I had intended getting all sorts to take back with me but quite frankly just didn’t have the energy. It has not been a good break, the snow, the temperatures, frozen water pipes in the caravan, followed by the flood in the caravan,£45 parking ticket, others ill too. Oh dear!
