The official England World Cup (Football)  song has been released early. Dizzee Rascal and James Corden. Could it be another 1966 even with all the injuries?

The auction in the morning went ahead see:

Our thoughts are with Pauline and the other “homeowners” from Kulaksiz 5. What happens next? Keep an eye on Mal’s northcyprus free press as Pauline keeps him updated with each development.

5th June 2010

Firstly a mention to Super Gary, hope everything goes well today, Mal and I are thinking of you.

I had cherries and mulberries for breakfast…yummy. Cherries are in the shops now and the mulberries are from our weeping mulberry tree. It’s a shame I bought the tree for Mal but he is never here when it fruits, so I just have to eat them.

I went to Lambousa in the morning and then popped roiund to Gwen’s as she left something in my car. Back home and the digger was going dust was flying everywhere, I could even feel it in my hair. I am now shutting the windows because of the row and the dust.

Cyprus Today had a lot about Kulaksiz 5 – the houses that are being auctioned tomorrow morning. My heart goes out to these people and the rogues who have left them in this position.

It was so windy and dust clouds were blowing everywhere. One of the pictures shows the dust clouds, the others, the days progress at the hacking away.

I have to say that I was relieved that I was meeting up with Gwen and I could get away from the noise and the dust of the digger below us. I have been keeping the windows shut and the pool is filthy. I picked Gwen up and first we went to the KAR office. They have had a lot of new things in, so we went to have a look. I came away with a new pair of shoes and three evening bags! All the money goes to a good cause, for the animals at the centre. (www.kyreniaanimalrescue.org)

From there we went on to Cafe Dukkan and had a very relaxing lunch, sat outside and spent most of the afternoon there. Gwen insisted on treating me to lunch as part of my birthday present. Thank you Gwen. By the time I arrived home, the work had stopped.

The photos are Gwen and the excavation to date!

3rd June 2010

Rosie and I went into the ravine in the morning. The stream is still running down there although not as fast but enough for Rosie to jump in and out and get really muddy…dog heaven!

Later I went to show the map to our new neighbour who is building up to our land. Ali Semi also came over and showed me the plans. They assured me that the GPS tapu is accurate, which incidently has not been carried out yet.  Now, maybe I would believe that had the three GPS tapus that Mustafa, the neighbour behind us, had all came out the same….they didn’t.  I have little faith in any of the tapus here as we have had so many and not one has been the same as the previous one. Our neighbour and Ali Semi assured me that “everything would be alright and not to worry”. I have now stopped worrying because when I spoke to Mal he said if they cut away any of our land in his absence then they will just put it back when he returns. Ali Semi also apologised for the constant building noise, I have to say I appreciated that, he is a nice man.

At least I had arranged to visit Bev and Gary so managed to get away from the caterpillar digger noise for the morning anyway.  Bev had made me a lovely card for a forthcoming wedding, clever lady. My swimming pool cleaner hose had split and I discovered I couldn’t just cut that piece off and rejoin it as the ends were sealed. I asked Gary where the best place was to buy another and Super Gary appeared with an end that was not sealed and I can just screw the hose into, bless him!

A classic article in Mal’s NCFP….

I wonder where I am then?

2nd June 2010

Another hot day so I took Rosie to the beach. There were a lot of fishermen down there.

A quick consultation with Mal via Skype in the morning confirmed that yes, we own the land up to where it drops, as shown on the map. Poor thing, he is working hard and doing little else but marking and moderating.

In the evening Margaretha, Ingrid and myself went on girlie night out. It appears that since the last Pizza night I attended when the amount we paid for the bill was queried and the attitude of the people in there, after a couple of years of us going there once a week, they have lost our custom. I still fail to see how people here can not see if they don’t treat customers right, they lose them. So, we went to Taj Mahal instead.  We understood the 25tl buffet was every Wednesday night. When we arrived we were told that it has been changed to Monday nights!  We don’t seem to be having much luck with our girlie nights out. Still, the company was good. We are choosing a different venue for next Wednesday!

1st June 2010

Rosie and I were up and out early again, mainly as the temperatures are reaching about 35 degrees and it would be too hot to walk any later. The view of the sunrise shining on the sea was spectacular. Worth getting up early to see.

Back home and it seems we are again surrounded by building. Perhaps one summer it will stop. At least our end of Malatya will look pretty good when it is all finished.

I went into Dodgy Turk to sort out my standing order payments as my previous card expired. No problem, the girls were very helpful. I reached Girne a lot quicker than expected as now the new bypass is open, the traffic is far less on the Girne road. I also called into the KAR shop to see Gwen. Shopping on the way back to collect fresh fruit and vegetables at far cheaper prices than the UK and far tastier I hasten to add. Tomatoes 1tl a kilo..that’s more like it and they are so tasty!

The screens around our pool have torn and so I brought some more back from the UK. They only had red and white ones left so until the sun fades them it looks a bit like Margate sea front! In the evening I was replacing the first one when our new neighbour from below our garden came calling to find out exactly where our boundary is…here we go again! I wonder how many tapus this time. BUT at least with this boundary, from the original map we have with the plots marked, it is obvious that we own up to the drop. I think Sergay had the impression that the land at the front that Mal has not yet had time to clear, belonged to him. I explained that it was not cleared because Mal is doing it bit by bit.

Ingrid told me that while I was out in the morning five workmen were leaning against the kennel wall, obviously to fix the leaking pipe. Rosie and my evening walk revealed that yes they have done more than tie a piece of polythene around it but not sure what lies beneath the soil they layed over it!

31st May 2010

For some unknown reason, having gone to bed past midnight, I woke up at 4.30am.  So, I got up and as soon as it was light Rosie and I headed for the mountains.

On the way to the mountains I discovered that our mains water pipe, which goes through the tarmac in the road, was leaking. It was obvious why as all the sides of the roads had been cleared with a digger whilst I was away. I spoke to Ingrid and she kindly said she would call the Beledeysi as they were the ones who cleared the roadsides. Well, there was a considerable amount of water there and aren’t we all supposed to conserve water?

I had to laugh when Rosie and I went for our evening walk……..repair shown below, of course with the spare plastic just thrown by the road.

I managed to clean a very filthy pool following two days of Sahara dust and other debris. I cleaned it once and then the hose on the pool cleaner broke in two. Fine I thought, just cut that bit off and rejoin it…..no, the end is sealed, so looks as though I have to buy a new one.
