A lovely day but of course we couldn’t take Ellie out and so I sat out in the garden with her.  Mal went to the allotment for a short time.

We watched the final of Race Across the World. I have to say slightly disappointed in the couple who won!

Wednesday 11th June 2025

We didn’t take Ellie for a walk because of her poorly leg but met up with Lou and two of our grandsons at The Bell in Minster. We took Ellie with us and sat out in the garden in the beautiful sunshine and had lunch. Not often we get together so was lovely to see them all.

We took Ellie to the vets in the afternoon. The nurses made such a fuss of her in the reception area. Ellie has lost a kilogram and this vet , Antonia, said she shouldn’t lose any more. I haven’t changed the amount she has, so we will up her food slightly. She gave Ellie a thorough examination and said her heart is very good.

She thinks it is arthritis in her back legs and maybe spondylitis. She gave her Metacam and we have to return on Tuesday for a blood test. She may need X rays but along with that comes risk because of the anaesthetic, so at the moment it is a question of step by step and now complete rest. Then we have to think of physiotherapy.

Mal now carries her up the stairs at night but she had a very restless night even though we had the fan on. I guess she was pulled around quite a bit at the vets.

Tuesday 10th June 2025

We took the car in for MOT. Dropped it off at 8.30 and walked back home. It was too far to take Ellie with her bad leg, it’s only short walks at the moment, vets tomorrow.

Service, MOT and new cambelt and it was all complete in one day thank goodness. Impressed with this garage as it is a new one we have used (new to us) and is in Sandwich.

Better not to talk about the England football game, not good losing 3-1.

Monday 9th June 2025

A work day. It is Bowel Cancer month and we have to raise additional funds by asking customers for roundups and lottery and tombola. It isn’t easy and now I have got to know that Head Office are tracking how much volunteers are raising and will get managers to retrain VOLUNTEERS that don’t perform well enough. I am shocked we don’t get paid, give up our time free of charge!! Shocking.

Sunday 8th June 2025

We went to Shepherdswell  and took Ellie round Knees Wood. She loves all the sniffs in there.

We watched the French Open Final in the afternoon , all five and a half hours of it. I told Mal that Alcaraz would claw  his way back and he did! Excellent.

Saturday 7th June 2025

I went shopping at Westwood and vowed never again. The roads were horrendous and queues for the car parks and I went early!! Whitfield, Dover or Deal in future.  By the time all the houses are finished being built I can imagine the place will come to a standstill.

More torrential rain but Mal managed to take my surplus tomatoes to the allotment to plant.

We watched the England game – not inspiring!

Friday 6th June 2025

We took Ellie to the park in Minster and drove back past the house we used to own in Sevenscore. We could have made a fortune!! They have sold off half the garden and another house has been built next door!

In the afternoon our Red Hatter group met up at the Walpole Bay Hotel for afternoon tea. It’s a lovely quaint hotel with a museum on the second floor.

We had a new lady join us, Marta, who is a steam punk! She certainly fitted in to the group. We had a lot of laughs.
