I went shopping at Westwood, to buy a new microwave and some other bits. I bought some things for our next great grandson, expected next month. I decided I may as well shop whilst there as I was meeting the girls to go to the cinema. We went to see Downton Abbey and very good it was too.
Wednesday 17th September 2025
We took Ellie to King George VI park and today she walked all the way round. She obviously enjoys walking a lot more now which is a very good thing.
I cooked a curry in the evening and Mal said he would prepare the rice. We have a Joseph Joseph Microwave rice cooker. When I went into the kitchen it was full of smoke and stinking. All the windows and doors flung open…….Mal had forgotten to add the water!!! That will teach him to do too much online at the same time. What was even more worrying was that the smoke alarm didn’t work.

We dropped the car off at the garage for them to sort out the particle filter. We took Ellie with us and so we had a long walk back but she managed. We stopped half way at the cricket pitch, so she could have a rest and sat and watched a heron.

We had a Hatters lunch booked at The Parlour and so I booked an Uber to take me there. I had to laugh as the Uber driver that responded was Rhys! Just as I was walking out the door, when he arrived, the garage phoned to say the car was sorted. So, Rhys took me on the very short trip to the garage. We were both disappointed that we didn’t have longer to chat!! I then drove to Birchington. It was a special lunch as Lynda, a red hatter from Western Australia was joining us again. Her sister Jacky came with her. It was really interesting hearing about Red Hatters in Australia.
We also had a very good meal.

In the evening we watched the Spurs game, they could have scored more goals! But I guess at least they won.
Monday 15th September 2025
A work day. Jack spent the day training the new manager for the Faversham branch. I wasn’t very busy, I think people stayed in doors because of the strong wind warnings.
Sunday 14th September 2025
We watched parts of Last Night of the Proms on iplayer. Classic – Brian May and Roger Taylor, brought tears to our eyes!
We drove to Shepherdswell to Knees woodland, one of Ellie’s favourite places and we could tell as she was walking so fast and next thing she had gone down 4 steps! We let her lead the way and didn’t quite keep up, oh well, she managed them perfectly.
So many toadstools/ mushrooms amongst the woodland.

Then a coffee (and a large bowl of water) at The Colonel’s Cafe.

Saturday 13th September 2025
Rain, rain and more rain! BUT I did manage to take Ellie out for half an hour and we almost managed to keep dry. She really wasn’t keen on walking far…she just stops!
Hammers v Spurs in the afternoon . We won 3-0, much to Mal’ s disappointment. We are now second in the table.

Friday 12th September 2025
We went for a walk around the Viking ship and stopped in the cafe for a coffee. A little windy as it is next to the coast.
Then , allotment and a bit of gardening.
The vet called in the evening and said the post op X ray was OK, a bit of swelling etc etc. We asked what we should be doing now and told to try her on a couple of stairs at first but continue as we have been doing more or less (3 -6month recuperation and we have to remember she is old). Ellie will tell us what she can cope with, she is very good at that and loves me massaging her “bad” leg. Now we have to make another appointment for mid October to have her fully checked. Being this far ahead I can book online and choose the vet I prefer (Sorrel)!
