On The Island

We went along to the Viking Ship for Ellie’s walk. It overlooks Sandwich Bay.

Of course after the walk, a coffee. We do try and keep these small places going.

For lunch we had a booking at Bottega Caruso, the vouchers Dom and Jem bought for Mal’s birthday. We were really looking forward to it. What a disappointment. It was fine to start with and Ellie lay under the table and nearby tables commented how well behaved she was.  There were only 3 choices on the mains menu. Mal ordered Fennel sausage pasta and I, the asparagus and mushroom pasta. Tiny portions, lukewarm and quite tasteless. What a disappointment. The waiter came to collect the plates and asked if everything was OK. Mal said “I wanted to give my dog some of the sausage but there wasn’t any”. It just looked like mince. Mal then wanted to go on to say the meals were lukewarm but the waiter just grinned and walked away. I had a home made limonata and it had SIX huge chunks of ice in it, so little drink and that was £5!! We glanced at the desserts but being treated like that, rather than spend another £10 each, we paid and left. A glass of ice…….

It was so nice in the evening we sat outside in the garden playing cards.

 

 

 

A lovely walk around Kearsney. Ellie managed to jump in and out of the stream. So, she can still do it! Perhaps “jump” is a bit of an exaggeration!

Then of course a coffee at the cafe.

In the afternoon my friend from Yorkshire called to thank me for her birthday present.  We go way back to when I lived in Yorkshire and she has been such a good friend. Rhys was born in Harrogate. We were on the phone for an hour and a half! A lot to catch up on.

Another trip to my Canterbury dentist. She said “I bet you are fed up keep coming here. ” Of course I agreed with her. This was for a second “sizing” of my new dentures, pink stuff all around and in my mouth!! Another appointment for 2 weeks time. In the middle of all of this somehow she set the fire alarm off!! Deafening and people running into the room to see if it was a fire!! All this seems a sequence of disasters. You really couldn’t make it up!

Time in the garden in the afternoon.

We had an 8.30 appointment with Sorrel at the vets. I always make sure we see her . In our opinion she is the best vet there. She examined Ellie all over and confirmed she is doing extremely well for a dog of her age but agreed she may need a little help, maybe arthritis, She has given us medicine for two weeks and then report back. She says if there is no improvement just tell her and she will try something else. She was also fine about her weight (had put on 300gram) but she isn’t walking as much as she used to. Sorrel was perfectly happy with it.

On the way out there was a black lab they were trying to get into one of the treatment  rooms. The owner was crying her eyes out. I have no idea what was happening but I ended up crying as I walked out the door!! I hope the dog is OK.

I went to Westwood later looking for inspiration for my sister’s 80th birthday. Nothing!!

A work day.  Jack was supposed to be away but was in. He was going to the Isle of Wight the following day and as Nicole was working he decided to come in!  I am guessing he didn’t want to do the packing.

We weren’t particularly busy but we sorted a lot of stock, prior to Jack’s week off.

A trip to Knees wood. It amuses us that Ellie always leads the way, we just let her choose where she wants to go.

The bluebells are still looking so lovely.

One of Mal’s birthday presents was a writing course and that was where he went in the afternoon.  I planted some impatiens that I bought the previous day.

Shopping in the morning and then plenty of watering in the garden and allotment. At least all the washing dried.

Football in the afternoon. We watched Spurs the first half and Hammers the second half, so who is being relegated?!
