We got all the rugs out and cleaned them and put a couple down, ready for winter and what happened? The temperature went up again, back to the early 30’s. Rosie liked having them back down anyway!

We took Rosie out in the morning and she saw something in the undergrowth and that was it, straight down the side of a very steep mountain. She climbs like a mountain goat! Of course she came back with half the undergrowth stuck to her coat.

I bought Cyprus Today and it seems they are now reporting on things Mal put in his online newspaper over a week ago!

Mal actually managed to seal all the outside swimming pool wall and the first coat of textured paint. A job well done. Meanhwile I finished off round the outside windows, by the time we had both finished I was too worn out to go to Pizza Night, so we both had a night in and watched the England v Belarus game. Yes, we won!

All set for a days painting around the outside of the house. It wasn’t until I was up a ladder that Mal decides he doesn’t have a roller!  One day he may get organised, although I doubt it.  So, down to the yapi market to buy more paint and a roller!

He didn’t get started at all, instead replaced the taps in the shower to the en suite and spent most of the day on the computer!

More painting and mending. In between I read the write up on the previous evenings England game, oh dear is all I can say having not seen it.

In the evening we went to Café Dűkkan. We had a really nice meal and the place has not changed since we were last there which is some time ago. Their filter coffee in a cafetiere is just as good as always. It is a great place, lovely ambiance even if you just want to have a snack, with reasonable prices.

We went shopping in Ileli yesterday, our preferred supermarket as they are such nice helpful staff and usually carry our shopping to the car as well. It wasn’t until I arrived home and checked the receipt I realised that when the till had gone wrong the cashier inadvertently entered Rosie’s liver in 4 times but only cancelled one. It was obvious from the receipt there was an error as no two packs of liver would be exactly the same weight. So, on the way back from Café Dűkkan, we called in and spoke to the girl on the till. She immediately apologised and refunded the money. Ten out of ten for service once more! For anyone who hasn’t used them, they have an extensive selection of Asian and Oriental ingredients, so I just had to buy some more Thai red curry paste, 1kg fro 19tl. A point to note, they are open until 03.00, very handy if you arrive on a late plane.

Mal and I went to Imap Yapi market to buy the second flush mechanism for the en suite and also some new fixings and a new tap for the shower. Everything here gets really chalked up because of the hard water. His next job. Mal has also been designing a new ‘ontheisland’ website which is soon to be finished

In the afternoon it was so nice we gave up working and went swimming. The water temperature was 25 degrees.
