Up to the mountains. We reached the waterfall and someone has dumped about 8 bags of rubbish. Why do they do it?

 

Lazy Sunday with a lot of time in the pool. We were going out to lunch but when we came to it, decided to stay by the pool!

We watched the Liverpool game and then in the evening we had Lou, Rhys and the kids on the web cam for about two hours. That was fun. Josie had a lot to say for herself and we have Christmas Day sorted. Well, it is August!!

Ellie had a friend to chase around with at the beach.

We are noticing already that it is staying darker longer in the mornings.

Very little in Cyprus Today but it will save others from wasting 4tl! I have to admit until I read it I was unaware what a mufti was! An islamic scholar.

Good news from KTW, there will be a release this evening!

“During our patrol this morning we noticed hatchling tracks from Daniel’s nest. We decided to excavate it there and then as we were concerned about the welfare of the remaining hatchlings in the nest. Lucky we did cos there were 30 hatchlings all struggling to get out the nest and may not have survived if we hadn’t excavated it then. So there IS A RELEASE ONLY TONIGHT of our Loggerhead Hatchlings so please meet at 7pm at The Turtle Shack in the car park of The Guzelyali Beach Restaurant, which is the first restaurant heading west. The actual release will be as soon as it starts to get dark. See you all there.” NB They have now changed the time to 7.45!

The start of the football season and we watched two good games. Man U who lost and then of course Hammers and Spurs. A win for Spurs.

Early morning beach. I even think Ellie is starting to enjoy the water.

 

I forgot to say. Earlier this week tickets went on sale in Margate for Michael MacIntyre. Lou and Rhys said they would like to go and as we will be in the UK then I told them not to worry, I would buy 4 tickets when they release them on Tuesday at 9 am. Well, three hours of our life wasted! I started phoning, of course the phone line was busy, busy busy. Mal and I both sat on lap tops ready to book 4 tickets online but they hadn’t put the facility on. At 9.30 they did! BUT neither of us could book more than one ticket. Well, we wanted at least two together, not one in the gallery and one in the stalls! Mal finally managed two seats together and tried to add two more “you have reached your limit, only 2 per person”!!! He bought the two. I was still trying and then suddenly the entire site collapsed. Obviously they had sold out. Later in the day the theatre put  an apology on Facebook, their computer system didn’t have enough bandwidth so the online booking nor phone lines could cope with the bookings………no queuing on the phone nothing.

We know he is Rhys’s favourite comedian and so we have told them they can have the tickets, so not entirely wasted as, Lou and Rhys are very pleased. That theatre really ought to get its act together. I have trouble booking every ticket there.

In the evening Rhys got in touch with us to enter the Daily Mail Fantasy Football. They have all entered and so have Mal and I and we have our own mini league. It’s good fun for the season and there is still time if anyone wants to do it. It is FREE. The football season starts tomorrow ….yeah! One of  the opening matches, Mal’s team against mine…….Hammers v Spurs.

A mountain walk with Ellie chasing geckos!

Later we went shopping, a quick dash around the supermarkets as it was too hot to hang around. We also went to Garfields vets to buy Ellie some Eukenuba. He didn’t have the usual one we get her but gave us discount on the lamb and rice which is more expensive. He’s a really nice man and we stayed and chatted for a long time with him and his friend. They made us laugh because even they said it was “Pirate Island.” here in Cyprus BUT said if we had any problems to go and tell him and he would help us. Mmmm, we could have done with that 12 years ago!!

A lot more time in the pool.

She did run in on her own, without chasing the ball and put her nose under and blew bubbles!!

 

The temperature is rising but at least some of the humidity is going. However we usually sit outside in the evenings but instead sat indoors with the air con on! Sticky!

I know people who are or have been suffering from depression, an illness that can be so debilitating. Maybe the awareness of Robin Williams depression will make more people understand that you can not “pull yourself together”. It is an illness, it doesn’t work that way.

Down to the beach with the moon one side of the sky and the sun rising the other side. Magical.

Bit by bit we are getting Ellie used to the water. Never ever had this problem with a dog before!

The workmen are out cutting all the grass/weeds at the sides of our road. We did wonder if they would come across all the wasps but we haven’t heard any shouts. Mal throws a stone at the meter box every night but the wasps are still in there, a lot of them.

More sad news from KTW…………

“No excavations tonight. Nest ‘Alissa’ excavated last night had 82 eggs 20 hatched but sadly 62 were unfertilised. This is a bad year for KTW turtles!”

Having heard good reviews from the new LaRosh Indian restaurant, we thought we would go and give it a try. Tuesday evening and you can have a 2 course meal, coffee and brandy for 27tl. You can choose any starter from the main menu. We both had the mixed starter. Then you choose any chicken dish from the main menu. Mal had chicken curry and I had chicken sag.  Along with the main, rice and chapati are included.

It was good value and Mal enjoyed his but I’m afraid I have had too many “proper” Indian meals in Southall, so I found mine just hot but couldn’t taste any spices or spinach.  Don’t let me put you off if you want to give it a try. The waiter is so nice and even offered to bring a fan to our table.  There was only one other customer, at least we had someone to chat to!

A walk in the mountains today before it became too hot. Ellie thought it was great fun chasing tiny lizards.

and wow, the suns reflection on the sea….

I guess I am lucky to be an earthy Taurean to appreciate all the nature and skies around me. We had good weather until the afternoon when it started to become humid again. Nothing else for it but the pool!

In the evening we were looking for the Perseid meteor showers but the moon was so bright.

While we were star gazing and taking pictures of the moon, we could hear Ellie barking, which she rarely does. She was in another garden and eventually I went to see what the problem was. Another baby hedgehog, rolled up in a ball  and she was just standing there barking. Of course as soon as I went to her, the ball (hedgehog) was in her mouth and she was running around with it! I made her drop which she did, very suddenly, poor hedgehog. Mal moved it behind the fence into another garden. Mal said the prickles were really sharp, I don’t know how Ellie keeps it in her mouth!
