We took Ellie to the mountains quite early as rain was forecast. From there we went to buy Cyprus Today.

Margaretha came round in the morning for Mal to sort a problem out on her computer. Well, it became darker and darker and then the storm started, along with the rain. We were going to Girne for the air show but then changed our minds. We couldn’t even see the sea from our terrace!

We stayed in with Margaretha and then had a take away! The air display was cancelled because of the bad weather. I hear they are going to try again tomorrow at 3.30pm

Ellie was barking outside as soon as we let her out. I went to look and there was a husky in our front garden, below the pool. I have no idea how it got there as the gate was shut. I don’t know where it has come from either.

We went for a walk in the ravine with Ellie. This was cut short because she managed to find some fox “poo” and rolled in it before we could grab her! We had a chat with David and Kenny on the way back. Then I had to take Ellie straight into the shower. Smelly dog. That’s what Goldies do, they love anything smelly and muddy………………..

I failed to mention Andy Murray’s defeat……6-0, 6-1!!!! Shocking.

Gardening during the day.

A mountain walk (run for Ellie!) but a few clouds in the sky. The sun came out later perhaps we were just up too early!

 

Then off to Ileli for some shopping and warm olive and cheese bread. It had just been delivered.

The Turkish Stars were out again in the afternoon. It’s not everyone who can look out of their kitchen window and watch them perform over the Med!

Last thing at night we always let Ellie out. She didn’t come back in for a long while so Mal went to investigate as she was barking. She was having a stand off with a hedgehog. Instead of rolling in a ball as they usually do, this one was standing its ground and hissing at her. I have never seen that before. Perhaps it is one that she has had in her mouth before and he wasn’t going to have that again!.

Another beautiful mornings walk in the mountains.

They are starting to remove the poppies at the Tower but I have been emailed and told mine will be delivered end of January!

I have decided we have so much junk that it is time to start clearing things out and as today is dustbin day…….Some can go to the charity shop. The Tulips shop is not far so that is handy.

I did think about going in the pool for a swim until I put my toes in and then looked and the thermometer read 18 degrees. I changed my mind. I don’t know why it is so cold in November.

In the afternoon the Turkish Stars were out practising for Saturday (15th) when there will be celebrations for TRNC Independence Day. They were quite a way out at sea by the time I found my camera!

A lovely walk in the ravine with Ellie, she chases all over the place. He feet were a bit muddy but she had fun.

We are all proud that my grandfather’s name, Walter Edgar Daniel, will be read out at the Tower Ceremony today in the Roll of Honour. Such a shame I can’t be there. This is the monument at Thiepval, close to where he lost his life.

The electricity went off mid morning and was off until 3pm, so any hope of seeing/listening to the ceremony from the Tower lost. I will have to download it from somewhere. Very disappointing. We knew it was going to be a long power cut and so decided to go out to lunch. It’s over a year since we have been to Blue Song and since then they have built a new restaurant. It was more of a cafe last time we went but looks very impressive now and the food was good, reasonably priced and the Turkish coffees and water were free of charge. So, the 11th hour (1.00pm our time) I was sitting with my thoughts looking over the Med.
There were two young boys there and I was fascinated watching them fish with a piece of bamboo. I doubt they have a tablet to go home to (as our grandkids seem to!) I have to say Rhys takes the kids crabbing and they love it. Come to think of it, Torin has taken the twins fishing too.

Another beautiful morning for a walk up the mountains. We met Dave and the three dogs up there and Ellie chased around with them, so much so we needn’t have bothered with the walk but we did!!

Cleaning and gardening but so much nicer in the sun!

In the evening we caught up with the last of Downton.

This is now the second day of the hunting season. Cyprus Today mentioned the first day (last Sunday). They are saying there seem to be a lack of birds around ?? I don’t think that even needs a comment from me. There was also a hunting dog shot. You’ll all be aware of my thoughts on that one too. However today the guns are really going off  which meant we had to go to the beach, for fear of getting shot in the mountains.

There is still a lot of seaweed about following the storms. So, Ellie was in her element rolling in it. She also found a piece of sea sponge which was preferable to her ball we take with us. She buried it, dug it up, rolled all over it, buried it again and it went on! When she has a big enough hole, she hides her head in it!  What fun she had.

Needless to say Ellie stank once we got her back in the car and so I had to give her a shower when we arrived home.

The family went to the Herne Bay Remembrance Parade, Sol was taking part with the air cadets and very smart he looked too. He is the one nearest the camera, in front of the girl.

Later we watched a poor Spurs game, they lost!
