Here is Cyprus Today’s Report of Kulaksiz 5 v Akfinans Bank. We will hear later I am sure the full implications of this case and the precedent it has now set. For the residents so much stress and anguish when no one seemed to be listening. This has damaged the health of many of them.

Down to Minnis Bay with Ellie early as, short notice as usual, two of Mal’s sons were coming to visit! So a play on the beach and a quick dash into the Coop on the way back to buy some extras for lunch. The  Coop seem to be taking over a lot of the smaller local supermarkets in this area.  I have quite a bit of food already in the cupboards/freezer for Christmas, so no trouble knocking together a lunch, even for two vegetarians. So, Dom and Jemma and Tris and Violet were here all day and Ellie just loved playing with Violet all day long!

When they left we took Ellie over to the field just before it got dark. Four different dog owners over there with their dogs, so a good old gossip and the dogs all running round playing.

Later in the evening we went to The Minnis Restaurant and we were very disappointed. Having been there a while ago and having excellent food, this was not good at all. We had tapas.  I think the final let down was the desert, Spanish Churros with a “chocolate” dip.  They were disgusting and we couldn’t even eat them. That is unheard of Mal not being able to eat a desert, that is how bad they were. We just left them on the table and paid the bill. No one asked had we enjoyed the meal, I guess the answer was obvious.

We were up early again and the electrician was here at 7.30 to replace the extractor fan in the downstairs WC. These jobs should have all been finished by now….typical tradesmen it seems in the Thanet area, they have so much work they often just don’t turn up! I took Ellie over the field to play ball. She was joined by a Springer Spaniel and they chased around and jumped all over each other. I brought Ellie back covered in mud!

I then went on to the Marks and Spencer site for their “Gifting Weekend” with loads of things half price. They have some really good things and I bought quite a lot! Now, that is the way to shop!

In the afternoon I went over to meet Lou and we went to the little ones school to watch Josie’s Foundation Stage Class Nativity. They were so good seeing as they have only been at the school a term. It always brings a tear to my eye. This is something I have missed out on over the years in Cyprus.

 

Later we went into the town for the turning on of the lights. They had a stage with a comedian, singer and clown and loads of fake snow but the “star turn” was Elsa from “Frozen” who turned the lights on. We did get a little bit cold standing around for 2 hours waiting for the lights to come on as they said “between 4 and 7”!


I, as many others must be, am astounded that after all these years the Kulaksiz 5 case has had a complete turnaround. The judge found the mortgages fraudulent. We have all known that for years and at last there is a jdge that will say so. Kulaksiz update. Maybe one day Pauline will even have her laptop returned by the Police!

We were up early and I took Ellie over the field and by the time I got back the glazier was here to install a  new bathroom window. One of the fittings was broken on the old one and it seems no one could fix it, so a new window it was!. I just wish workmen would clear up after themselves. I went shopping and of course they had left by the time I got back home.   At least we have a fully functioning bathroom window now.

After lunch we went to Botany Bay, miles of sands for Ellie to run on.

It doesn’t matter what country she is in, she still digs a hole and lies in it!!

As we were going back to the car Ellie found a dead fish and rolled in it….yuk! We had to stop at the garden centre on the way home to buy some plants. We still haven’t bought our Christmas tree yet. We were going to buy one and then realised we were not sure whether we had something to stand it in at home.  Anyway, by that time the smell had got too much so we went home and gave Ellie a bath, no walk in shower here!

Meanwhile, back in Cyprus, after all the years of heartache and stress for Kulaksiz 5, the Judge has now found the mortgage fraudulent!!!

My first wax mac and wellie walk for many a year! We walked to the field and played ball, Ellie loved it. At least all the muddy stuff can stay in the garage but I must go to the charity shops to buy some old towels to wipe her down with. I am sure I have about a dozen in Cyprus! Meanwhile I have ordered some more bath towels for us (you can never have enough) from BHS, at the moment their Ultimate towels are Buy one get one free.

Mal stayed at home and I went shopping, not his favourite pastime. Back to Birchington and I bought the mirror but although the owner of the shop carried it across the road for me, in the pouring rain, when I arrived home one of the fancy screws that holds it together was missing! I did buy a new jacket in Birchington too.

I then went to the new Sainsbury’s which is very big and was nearly empty! From there on to Argos to collect Christmas presents I had ordered. We had some lunch and then went back to Birchington to see if the mirror screw was still in the shop. The shop was closed again but Mal found it in the road! We were very lucky. From there on to the beach. It was COLD!! Even so Ellie decided she was going to jump in the water.

We then went back to Westwood to buy a telephone table for the hall. I will get round to sorting Christmas things soon!

Lou and Rhys came round for a roast at lunch time. It’s nice to see them both. It ‘s  Rhys’s day off Tuesday and Wednesdays. I even made three courses, trying to get used to the electric oven, I much prefer gas.

After they left we drove to Birchington as we had seen a full length mirror in one of the shops there that we like. The shop was shut!  No help on the window either as to when they are likely to be open. From there on to the beach at Minnis. It was COLD!! I will have to look for my hats and gloves. I certainly need them now.

On the news this morning, they were showing  what is happening to the 888,246 Poppies from the Tower. Evidently 120,000 have been sent out already. It seems I am very lucky to have received my three already. I am so glad as originally they told me it would be the end of January and two are for Torin and Rhys as part of their Christmas presents.

I went out shopping quite early and Westwood Cross is getting busy already. Everyone is counting down to Christmas now.  I bought some seed and a feeder for the many birds we have in the garden.

We then went to Minnis Bay, stopping at the Cancer charity shop to buy next years diaries. Ellie just loves the bay and this morning I remembered to buy some tennis balls for her. I actually “clocked” the mileage to the beach on the way home. It is 2 and a half miles away. Closer if we walked! Had we walked, we would have been arriving home in the dark. It’s getting a bit colder!

It looked a bit of a foggy/misty day so we had a late breakfast and then Torin packed everything up into the car and headed for home. Ellie, Mal and I went to the beach again. Ellie just loves the space to run free and all the other dogs she meets down there.

Lou came round with Ollie, Oscar and Josie when we arrived back home and brought our green grocery. They go to the farm shop every week and as we used to do many years ago, we are now starting to bulk buy and share it out. Much nicer than the supermarkets. They all stayed for lunch. It’s nice to be back amongst the family.

I have actually cracked it today, what goes in which rubbish bin and which day they are collected!

We also sorted out the new TV we ordered as the one we had in the caravan was too small.
