Sunday 12th October 2025

Another cloudy damp day but we went off to Knees Wood as Ellie really seems to get a spurt on over there and leads us around! We met up with another two year old very boisterous goldie. The lady said she was taking it to training classes, meanwhile had a halter on his nose.

We then went to the Colonel’s Cafe. Mal went in and came out with a hot chocolate for me but I really didn’t want all the cream on top!

In the evening  I was looking forward to Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles. It did not disappoint! He is just so dedicated to wildlife and makes it all so interesting and I have to say I have never seen a nightingale before and every day is a school day…the blackbird has 100 songs and the nightingale has a thousand!

We walked over the fields, it was really humid and along with the weather so many mosquitoes. Annoying.

I went to visit Pam who has had a back operation this week and is doing really well. Obviously a lot of physio to follow. She is also waiting to move and they keep changing the date, not at all helpful.

I am down to three tomato plants in the garden but Mal is still bringing loads from the allotment. I still find it amazing that all of these came from two cherry tomatoes. We eat a lot anyway but have struggled to keep up with them, making a lot of tomato and basil soup.

A walk in King George VI park. We noted that it was so quiet, hardly anyone around, Mal joked maybe the end of the world had happened and we hadn’t noticed!

A stop at the Post office on the way back as we had a rice cooker which filled the microwave with water, so had to return it.  It’s a new microwave so that wasn’t the problem. Then our Vacuum cleaner has failed, we thought it was still under guarantee but 3 months out of the 3 years. We have decided after much investigation to buy a Shark which comes with a 5 year guarantee. This is a necessary item in our house as it is used every day as golden retrievers moult year round.  Oh and we had to replace the kettle and water filter last week, everything seems to go at once!

Wednesday 8th October 2025

Such a lovely morning and so we took Ellie over the fields in Eastry.

We then went to the vets to collect her next sack of food. Ellie was worn out after the long walk and so we took her home and then went to Wingham Wildlife to see if we could see baby Orangutan, now 3 months old.  Today we were lucky. So sweet and mum is taking such good care of it.

While we were there we also bought another Christmas present, an experience for Mal’s sister. As members we get 10% off, we hadn’t realised that, so a bonus.

Tuesday 7th October 2025

I completed a feedback from  the Shaftesbury Theatre saying how much we enjoyed the content and quality of the show. This morning I received a reply from them saying how pleased they were to receive such good feedback. Well, how nice, that is unusual nowadays!

We had breakfast and then I went back upstairs to get ready for the walk, Ellie stood at the bottom looking up to join me as she always used to. She can manage going down the stairs now but hasn’t conquered going up so we tried to encourage her. She did try eventually and managed three steps and then slid back down, so more time needed……Mal carried her up! Then a walk over the fields.

I then went to Westwood Cross to collect something from Next.  I did have a look around at other clothes shops. Why are all the jumpers either only reaching your waist or oversized?!

At least I am getting through the Christmas present list another GREAT grandchild expected this month!
