A 4.45 am walk for Ellie. Well, I say walk but she wandered round the field opposite, did her business. I put her lead on to go out the far gate and she just stood there! She didn’t want to go any further so we came home. She does  have a habit of telling you what she wants to do.

Of course the air con went on again as soon as we were back home but strangely we managed to have breakfast in a slight breeze in the garden. That soon changed.

In the evening I met up with the Red Hat girls in Spoons in Canterbury. I went by bus and it was sooo hot!

When everyone had arrived and eaten, we moved on to The Marlowe theatre to watch Nikita – Supanova. Wow! He was on stage the entire night….in that heat!

We took Ellie out at 5 am , too hot later in the day.

I then went to Walmer to collect the girls and take them to Deal station for their train. Not the best day for travelling.

I am still getting a lot of mouth ulcers. The periodontist told me I needed a blood test but he couldn’t do it and go to my dentist. My dentist told me she wouldn’t do it,  that I had to go to my GP surgery. It was bad today so I phoned rather than book on the app. Every time I try anyway, it tells me all the appointments have gone. After having a long talk to the receptionist – and explaining I have diverticulitis, she gave me a doctors appointment! I was only expecting a blood test!

So, a doctor’s appointment straight away!! Nice man, felt all round my neck, made me swallow, looked in my mouth and counted 4 ulcers, said he now knows what to look for and told me to book a blood test!

We had the air con on again but this is Ellie’s choice to keep cool!

Mal went to the allotment early, watering and picking fruit. Raspberries and cherries.

A Red Hatter lunch day. I did wonder if everyone would appear because of the heat. The only person who didn’t was Gilly as she was suffering from a bad stomach but I was pleased that Paula joined us. Of course I went to collect her from Walmer and then on to The Bell at Minster.

We had a lovely lunch. The food is always good there. I had the prawns and smoked salmon.

After the lunch Paula and I went back home. It was so cool as we had the air con on. I then took Paula back to Walmer where Gilly was feeling a little better thank goodness.

Well that was a vivid awakening at 4am, lightning and thunder! The rain just continued for a long time. It didn’t stop until 9.30 when we took Ellie to King George Park where there is the shade of the tress and a breeze from the sea.

We then collected the girls and took them for lunch at The Dog and Duck at Plucks Gutter. They have new managers there and the promise of good food. Not so! A very average pub lunch. But it was nice sitting in the garden. Gilly, Mal and I had a pie. Mine wasn’t too good but GIlly and Mal had steak and said they were good. Paula’ s chicken Caesar salad was not good. When they took the plates away, he asked if the pies were good Mal and Gilly said yes. I didn’t answer and we told him the salad was not. His reply to Paula was “Then you should have had the pie!”  Cheeky!

This was a trial for Red Hatters future lunch. No we won’t be going again.

Back home and we spent the rest of the time in our garden until the England game was on!

I had a Sainsburys order, which included some groceries for Paula.

A walk with Ellie and then Paula and Gilly arrived to stay in their AirBandB in Deal. I had to collect them from Deal station and take them to the apartment.  It was very nice, part of a huge house in Walmer, not Deal!. They had assistance all the way down here as Paula is losing her sight and Gilly has bad knees and only one eye! I can’t say all the steps in the property helped.

Having settled them in, I returned home to collect Mal, back to collect the girls and then we went to Spoons . We sat out in the garden and had food and drink.

As the evening progressed, of course we had a lot to talk about, the garden filled up with loads of youngsters. By 10pm we realised we were the oldest people in the entire place! But I have to say the young people were all so nice and polite. We took Paula and Gilly back to the apartment eventually and then back home.

 

 

An early morning walk for Ellie and then I drove the car to the garage for the MOT and service. We have changed garages, hopefully this one will be good. It has been recommended to us.

Yes, they called just before lunch, all done, no advisories and it was ready to collect. That was painless!

A work day. Very busy in the morning and then it eased off quite  a bit when the rain came.

After dinner we watched Spain v Cape Verde. That was a very good game.
