First we went to Hastings Country Park. Obviously Ellie couldn’t have her usual long walk but she liked having a chase around for a while.
We then went in to Hastings and walked along the sea front. We also had a walk around the Fisherman’s Museum and watched a video telling us how they were hardly making a living in Hastings from fishing.
It is Skate season and I love it, so we made the decision to have our lunch in a pub that had skate on the menu, sitting outside in the garden. Mal went in to order only to be told that they “had a limited menu today” and no skate. They were almost opposite the sheds selling fresh fish so we knew it was available. We then spent the next three quarters of an hour asking in restaurants and chip shops to see if any had skate on the menu…NONE! How crazy is that?! A restaurant we had planned to go to, “Undercliffe House” was closed for no apparent reason, even when we retuned there at the end of our trek.
We didn’t have much luck and Ellie couldn’t walk any more, so we drove to a pub in Bexhill instead!! No wonder Hastings fishermen can’t make a living if even the local restaurants aren’t buying their fish! I fail to see any logic in any of this.
