Saturday 22nd January 2022

We had our breakfast. We were all given set times again. Ours was 9.45, half way through the day for us! We were going on the trip to Shanklin and Newport for the day, so Gareth, our coach driver had to alter our leave time! It wasn’t raining but it was very cloudy and cold and I have taken much nicer photos on previous visits!  We had a walk around Shanklin and discovered that most shops are closed until March!

We had a really nice cream tea at Cinders in Shanklin, the owners were so nice and friendly and the cream tea was excellent. They told us they had just run out of cream so we didn’t have the normal amount, the amount we had was plenty as we told them but they insisted on reducing the price for us!

We know the shops and tea/coffee rooms but so many were shut.

Gareth pointed out all the Island’s highlights as we drove through places. He was very entertaining.  I don’t think we had been to Newport before , it is the capital.

It was a nice day out. A lovely dinner again in the evening, with a lot of choice. Back to the Mariner’s for the evenings entertainment. After the quiz, we had Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers entertaining us (Tribute band obviously!! ) I think we all did as much singing as they did!

They finished around midnight, just kept on singing!
