Mutlu Bayramlar (Happy Bayram)!!

Ramazan is over and today is the first day of Şeker Bayram. Translated this means ‘sweet bayram’ and is the celebration after the fasting month of Ramazan. One of the traditions is for the children to go around to their neighbour’s doors wishing them a happy Bayram for which they are rewarded with sweets or a small amount of money. I guess our drive is too long and so they don’t bother.

I had to laugh on reading Cyprus Today “Bypass will be 5 years late”. It is doubtful that it will be finished before the end of 2012. I don’t think that will surprise anyone. I think the article I was most appalled by was the expats who decided to strip off and they were outside a mosque on a Sunday afternoon during Ramazan. So little respect and if that is how little you have then bog off to where ever you came from. They were arrested.

We watched a very good Manchester derby, Man U winning but the timing was controversial.  After this we spoke to the boys who were very excited at the win. They are all fine. River’s football team won again and Sol is in the top set for maths.

More rain and in the evening we sat under the terrace and watched the lightning show around the mountains.
