Today (May Day) is International Workers Day. All banks and public offices are shut today in North Cyprus. Some of the other shops are closed as well. Cyprus Today – an article about “experts say driving is now the worst it has ever been.” I don’t think we needed experts to tell us that. I know that every time I get in my car and drive anywhere. They are still chatting away on their mobiles, speeding, not indicating….need I go on?! It also stuns me that the authorities don’t feel the need to pay their electricity bills. As for the stinking Girne Harbour, do they not realise this is one of the main tourist areas?
We managed to have a break from the work and went to The Black Olive where they had a May Day event. We had lunch there and chatted to some of the KAR volunteers and of course Vicki, who has a similar sense of humour to Mals. Chaos when they are together!
