We walked Ellie before the rain started. We spent the rest of the day working on the book as some of the content we had needs finding!

Lou and Rhys returned my car in the evening……

Valentine’s and so we opened our cards and Mal cooked me breakfast.

Lou and Rhys came round to take my car to the garage that they use for their taxis as my car was due its MOT. Each year we think of upgrading but if it passes, we wonder why, so keep it for another year! It is comfortable, holds masses and has been like a workhorse when we have used it for moving and many other things. Fingers crossed.

We took Ellie along Rope Walk, Mal is off for half term. We walked around town, posted parcels and went into the charity shop and bought Ellie a new teddy. She loves having teddies!

More sun so Mal went to the allotment.

We are going to make our “adventures” in Cyprus into a book and so we spent the afternoon going over old photos and diaries and it made us very nostalgic and saying “my goodness did that really happen?!” We did go through quite a lot of hassle but we did it! Achieved our dream, not many people manage that!

In the evening we had an M&S delicious Valentine meal.

The car failed the MOT. It needed two new tyres and headlight re -alignment, so the garage will do that for us along with a service. We have it for another year! The headlight problem was obviously from where Halfords replaced the headlight bulb.

We went for a very cold walk across the fields with Ellie. My ears were frozen when we got back.

Mal went to the allotment, he has done so well with parsnips this year so while he was down there I made some spicy parsnip soup.

We watched the football in the afternoon, oh dear Spurs! At least Hammers had a draw.

Mal cooked dinner, which was lovely.

Mal took Ellie for her walk, avoiding all the treat givers! I went to Westwood again, I didn’t find anything for the wedding but did find some nice trousers in Next which I bought, not what I was looking for!

And our new Independent councillors have been sworn in.

In the afternoon Mal wrote a business plan for the Phoenix Centre, we have high hopes now that it will be reopened. It looks as though change is happening in Sandwich.

Mal and I were feeling more positive than we have done in a very long while. We had our local elections yesterday.  In November a group was founded “Sandwich Matters”. Mal contributes by doing their website (and attending meetings). 5 Councillors had resigned, very dubious “things ” going on. Sandwich Matters put forward 5 Independents and they all had far more votes than the Conservatives. Two of them are actually for the South , where we live, which is usually ignored. Maybe only a small step to stopping the corruption and lies going on countrywide but a start. As I say, feeling much more positive that change can happen with enough effort. Well done Melissa!

By the time Ellie and I reached Dumpton Gap beach (8.30am!) it was just like summer. Ellie had a lot of fun rolling in the sand and running in the sea.

Mal finished early as the college always does on Friday. He told me another member of staff is leaving! He is now off for half term week. Yes, they have managed to persuade him to go back after half term, they have a real staff shortage.

Rain on the horizon as Ellie and I walked along the coast. It didn’t rain in Broadstairs though.

I met up with the Red Hatters for lunch at the Canterbury Bell. There were 14 of us today. It was nice so many came at once and nice to have a catch up.

Mal had the day with no students, all staff preparing for next half term and so he finished early!

We watched the Spurs game in the evening, very poor defence from Spurs.
