After such a lazy day, eating, drinking and watching football, Mal had planned a full day for us. It was to start with the 9.15 bus from the bus station just around the corner, going to Siemla. It gave us 15 minutes to catch a boat for a cruise. We were at the bus station at 8.50. no bus! The next one was 3/4 of an hour later which meant we would miss the cruise. Our rep had warned us that the local bus service was less than dependable.
We decided to walk to the port looking for another boat. On the way we chatted to Mandy from “Malta Sightseeing”. She was so helpful and sold us a cheaper deal, an open top bus trip and then the cruise. We debated whether to do it another day but it seemed this was going to be a hot day, so a good day. From the top of the bus..
On reaching Siemla we had 15 minutes until the boat set sail. We were out in the open on the top. Well, the black clouds gathered, the rain started, the hail and the thunder! Of course none of us had macs or umbrellas with us. We went downstairs but it was leaking in everywhere and we were all getting soaked. It would have been such a lovely photo opportunity and also was so interesting the commentary, about all the lovely places we passed!
This was the strength of the downpour as we went past the largest hovercraft in the world!

Such a shame, the only rain we had all the time we were there.
It was a bit of a joke that I had bought a new sun hat at the beginning of the day to keep the strong sun off. I suppose it kept my hair slightly dry in the rain.
We found a restaurant and went and had some lunch and dried off a bit before catching the mini bus back to the hotel.
In the evening there was a singer in Agora bar who seemed to sing every song we loved and he had a great voice. We started on the espresso martinis. Dangerous as the waitress kept renewing them before we had even finished a glass!
One thing we didn’t like during this holiday was wearing a mask everywhere in the hotel, so many times we had to backtrack to the room because we had forgotten them yet again. Rather comical when I watched one of the bar staff with no mask or gloves on making our espresso martinis and then picking up the coffee beans with bare hands!
