A nice dry walk with Ellie but the tankers are backwards and forward from the river.

In the afternoon I went to Jackie’s house (Queenie Hatter), so that we could discuss future events and possibilities for visits. It was nice spending some quality time with her as she is in a lot of pain and still waiting for her emergency MRI!! We did get a lot sorted out.

After all the pain with my mouth, I have been trying to ignore it but realised I have a pre arranged appointment with my dentists hygienist.  I still don’t relish the thought of going so yesterday decided to phone my dentist. She sent a letter for me on 4th November and has heard nothing. I should have been sent something following my September visit to William Harvey Hospital. I have had nothing. She suggested I contact PALS, which I did in the morning and I spoke to a lovely lady who totally understood. She has contacted the hospital and they will get in touch with me. She has confirmed this by email, straight away and also given me her direct phone number. Now I’ll wait and see. My dentist still wants to know why I haven’t been sent to Dover Health Centre which is much closer. Anyway, I really don’t want to return to William Harvey.

Mal and I then went out clothes shopping, we only managed one top between us. So, we went into Debenhams and had afternoon tea. We had bought a Living Social voucher – “Tea & Cream Scones For 2 @ Debenhams – £2.99 instead of £7.90 for a cup of tea and a cream scone each for two people.”.Absolutely crazy and we expected it not to be very good but it was and at £1.50 each, no wonder Debenhams are going bust.

I listened to Boris’s interview on BBC Breakfast. He must be the world champion waffler. Did he give any straight answers? If so I didn’t hear one.

We walked Ellie and ended up at the allotment, one greenhouse has gone and a lot more. We also spoke to the guy who has the allotment next to ours and told him we had offered him money to leave things. He couldn’t understand as it was a substantial amount (£500), why he didn’t accept…….his problem not ours. We also told the neighbour that it was his mother’s allotment not his as Joe had told us. He was quite shocked by that. There seem to be a lot of untruths passing around. I just want it cleared now and us left to look after it.

Bob, our next door neighbour at home went on some of the walk with us with his two dogs. He told us all the water board tankers are there, by the river, because a major sewage pipe has collapsed under the river. He said they are trying to evade a £1 million environmental fine! That is also what has happened on the Sandwich bypass. I am pleased Mal asked for his £50 refund when he paid the bill to Southern Water. Other people will be refunded over the next 5 years. Mal said he may not be alive by then so asked for his now! I am now thinking they will have no money left after these major works.

It was very windy and wet in the afternoon but we heard the orangutans were on public view from today at Wingham Wildlife, so we had to go! There were so few people there and it took us a while to find the new enclosures. It was nice that no one else had discovered them!

There are four altogether but they are not breeding pairs. Of course we also looked in on the chimps and saw the baby. One of the chimps was quite fascinated by Mal.

In the evening Spurs had a 2-1 win.

I put the joint in the oven , Lou and the littlies arrived and we all went to the allotment. The previous tenant was there clearing some of his things. How easy I made it for him, three days worth of sorting his mess out so he could just come along and take it all. Not only that he made a bee line for me and started telling me his woes, how he had it since he was 13. He then told me it wasn’t even his allotment, it was his mother’s.  What a load of lies I have been told. I can’t believe how people can lie so badly. We will be glad when he has cleared everything and we can start from a blank canvas.  Mal offered substantial money for things to save him the trouble, he refused so he needs to clear it all now and as I say I just want to look forward not back in spite of the fact they are organising for a council worker to work a day for him clearing, compensation for us, our 7 days work sorting his mess out?……..absolutely nothing!

We went home for a roast lunch and after that went back and sorted some more things out.

When booking with Butlins for the Great British Folk Weekend we were told that they had a price promise and to check the prices in January and again just before we go. We checked, emailed them and have saved another £26. Originally we saved about £40 on their dining package. We have done well.

We met Violet and Tris and drove them to Howletts. We saw the baby gorilla, he was being cuddled indoors. We then went on to see Arina, my favourite of all the animals there. I must have hundreds of photos of her.

We stayed and listened to the tiger talk. We have heard them before but each time we seem to learn one new fact.  This time the fact that about 70 years ago their numbers were down to about 45 but now there are about 480. Progress even though they are obviously still endangered. We saw the baby elephant too.

Later we watched the Spurs game, not too bad I guess against Liverpool.

After our walk with Ellie Mal went to the allotment to meet with the town clerk and the previous tenant who obviously thought there was strength in numbers and took his mum and grandad along too.  In the end the town clerk made it very clear despite threats from the previous tenant that their tenancy had been terminated because of neglect of the plot and that our tenancy was now in effect. Mal offered a good price, to buy items that belonged to him eg green houses but he insisted he wanted to take it all so Mal agreed reminding him that included ALL  his rubbish , all by 28th January. It’s just a shame we spent so much time clearing up the chaos and mess everywhere. I wonder if  he had been watching and waiting until it was all sorted for him. Am I just being suspicious?

I went shopping, having had more than enough stress over this.

I read that Kent County Council have wasted £123 million on preparations for Brexit, this includes the dismantling of their crazy ideas. So do we have to pay for that?
