We walked Ellie in the sun but it was still a cold wind.

I met the Red Hatters for lunch at The Bell Inn in Minster.  It was a nice lunchtime even though the food wasn’t that good but the company was.

We took Ellie for a lovely walk but it was a bitter wind.

I then went to meet Rhys for lunch. It seems ages since I have seen him, he always seems to be working. We had a nice lunch together and then went round some of the shops. We both said that it really seemed so quiet at Westwood, a little like Canterbury the previous day. Is everyone shopping online nowadays?

It was still very windy when I arrived home and so I suggested that we went to the allotment to see if there was any storm damage. The wind by then was so cold and we discovered half of Mal’s shed roof had blown away and the door broken and all his tools and the entire shed contents were exposed. Also one of the fences in my allotment was down. We spent ages looking for the missing half of the roof. It’s surprising how far it had travelled but Mal managed to find it and  then we spent until it was dark, trying to secure it, with the wind working against us.  I was frozen by the time we were home.

Demelza day. We again were not very busy. Colin, Heather’s husband called into the shop in the afternoon so we had a chat. How very sad.

Thank goodness we flew back yesterday. The wind from storm Ciara is quite bad with tiles flying off houses and fences falling down around us.

Lou and the kids came round but it certainly wasn’t a day to go to the allotment! I cooked a roast.

We spent the rest of the day catching up with things.

The day we leave. I have to say apart from the Brazilian restaurant, everything else was perfect. The rooms were huge with plenty of drawers and hanging space. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were all lovely. The food and drink….well, we enjoyed them both.

We flew back home with Lou collecting us from Gatwick. A pleasant flight.  It was nice to get to Lou and Rhys’s house and have a cup of tea. We collected Ellie and my car and went home.

I think Ellie was pleased to be back and find her teddy waiting for her!

We unpacked and then it seemed really odd having to think what to have for dinner! We have been spoilt.

We had our breakfast and then caught the shuttle bus to Mdina. Mdina is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. A really fascinating city to walk round and the Silent City.

We visited the Museum first and there were some really interesting exhibits in there. From there we wandered the streets and St Paul’s cathedral.

Next into Rabat (next door) where we visited St Paul’s Catacombs.

We also went to the Roman Villa.

In the evening back at the hotel, we ate in the Italian restaurant which was really good and then went to the Dome for the evenings entertainment. We joined in with the quiz and even managed to answer things like Mariana’s Trench but we didn’t win!
This was followed by another good show.

Following that back to the room to pack.
