We took Ellie over to Reculver. There were a lot more people there and none of us could decide whether we were supposed to pay in the car park as charges had been waived but no one seems to know what is happening now. Everything seems a bit of a mess at the moment with no clear instructions. All the way along the walk we could hear the skylarks singing.

After a very windy walk, we went to Lou and Rhys’s and did our Sunday morning sitting the other end of their front garden! It is lovely to catch up, just wish it was all back to normal and we could all have a hug.

We arrived home at lunchtime and just put the kettle on for a cuppa when Tariq arrived at the door. He stayed for lunch, distancing in the garden! He had just cycled 90 miles!! So, 100 miles by the time he got home!

He told us all sorts of tales of when he was in Norway with the Marines.

Let’s hope we don’t have to keep this distancing up for too much longer!!

We went to Minnis Bay. Lots of people wind surfing as it was so windy but very few sitting on the beach.

Allotment in the afternoon and I also potted some tomato plants and courgettes at home.  We took home more rhubarb and broad beans for Lou and Rhys.

Mal took Ellie out as he opted out of shopping!! I don’t like queuing either but still have to do it.

When I arrived home, Chloe (next door) was emptying her car and told us that her and Mickey have been ill with a lot of suspect symptoms but they have been tested and don’t have Covid BUT they have no idea what they do have!!!

After lunch it was back to the allotment and it was much cooler so Ellie came too. She always finds a nice shady place. Mal worked his allotment and we had our first lot of broad beans for this year.

Sad to hear that Shearings have gone into administration. We had some good holidays with them, the friends we made at Lake Como comes to mind. So many companies will go this way.

Another hot day and so Ellie and I were up early. We met Marley, one of her doggy friends in the field opposite. Marley’s owner is back at work, making stained glass windows in Rochester. He said Rochester was just packed yesterday.

From there a nice walk in the shade by the river. I found another moorhen nest but that one was well hidden in the reeds.

The postman knocked again and this time another card and a large envelope which the postman apologised for as it had come open in the post and they had to reseal it. Well, it wasn’t his fault but nice of him to knock.

What a lovely surprise, a birthday card and letter from Scarlet and a birthday card and letter from Jack and school photos of both of them. My goodness they are growing up.

Allotment again in the afternoon.

We sat out in the garden in the evening and played cards.

A hot day and so Ellie and I went out as soon as the sun was up. It was lovely in the shade and we walked along the edge of the river. Another very funny moorhen nest and her chicks were all swimming around.

I think my birthday may be going on all week with the erratic post. Two more birthday cards and flowers through the post! I think I have been spoilt this year.

In the afternoon we went to the allotment and it was hot but we are 4 pairs of hands missing so there is a lot of work to do plus the watering!

A couple more cards and some flowers arrived in the morning. The post really is messed up. Maybe I can continue my birthday all week. I have plenty of Ollie’s delicious birthday carrot cake (my favourite), that he made me, to keep me going.

Our walk with Ellie was shorter than usual as it was getting hotter. Mal watered the allotment in the afternoon.

My 70th Birthday. How did that happen?! With everything that is going on with Covid, I didn’t know what we would be doing.

Milly and Sol came round in the morning to bring my present and card. It was lovely to see them. We do miss the hugs though.

We spent a lovely afternoon. More later!!!!!! Suffice to say Lou, Rhys and the kids made it the perfect birthday.

Mal did say in the photo of both of us it looks like I am his carer! That will teach him to always pull faces in front of the camera!

It seems hearing from friends that the post is still disrupted as some things haven’t arrived.
