A walk in the morning and then in the afternoon I met up with the Red Hatters in Canterbury and we went to see “On Your Feet” at the Marlowe Theatre. It is the story of Gloria Estafan and very good it was too. There were 13 of us altogether. Annie couldn’t make it and so Queenie’s husband had her seat and we told him he was our Prince Regent. He seemed very happy to go along with the idea. Queenie’s legs are becoming far worse and still no treatment and so Chris has to drive her everywhere, so he would be there anyway.

We were sitting fairly close to the stage and the music I have to admit was very loud but of course for that show we expected it to be but three of the Hatters left in the interval saying they couldn’t stand it being that loud. The rest of us were up and dancing at the end……oh dear Old People! (I think two of them were younger than me.  The rest of us really enjoyed it.

Again we followed Ellie’s walk with more time at the allotment. We decided today we would make the seating area at the beginning of the allotment, where everyone walks past, appear to be taken over by a new tenant. Maybe people will stay off it then! The first picture is one I took on the first day.

One good thing about the allotment is that there is always a huge pile of woodchips and also a pile of manure and you just help yourself. The patch we have done could do with a lot more wood chip and treading down but I know the kids would love to do that at the weekend. We stopped when our backs were aching!

We took Ellie and stopped off at the allotment. Someone was digging up one of our rhubarbs, so Mal challenged him and he said Joe had told him he could have it. Yes, Mal had said Joe could take one but this was a very rude man. Mal told him in no uncertain terms to stay off the allotment in the future as it was no longer Joes. Meanwhile I was talking to one of the nicer allotment tenants! I guess you get to know the nice ones as you go along but very few liked Joe (previous tenant), so they have told us.

More clearing up, even though Joe should be doing it. At least we have good weather.

There are small ponds at each end of the allotment. Obviously they are stinking and full of rubbish but we will make at least one a seating area, with paving slabs and flowers and clean the ponds up and hopefully encourage some wildlife.

I was at Demelza and although it was quiet, it was OK until Jack told me it was “Blue Monday”, supposedly the most miserable day of the year. Well, I wasn’t miserable but a lot of people were!

The Operations Manager from William Harvey Hospital phoned while I was out so I have to call them back tomorrow (about teeth).

Lou, Ollie, Oscar and Josie arrived and we all went to the allotment. Thankfully the previous tenant was not around and he has to clear the rest of the things. Meanwhile we had plenty to do.

We went back home for a roast and Mal having introduced the kids to Dandelion and Burdock, this week it was cream soda with ice cream in it! Josie wasn’t too keen. Ollie loved it.

We were up early as Mal was off to London. It was part of the Christmas present I bought him, a days drawing instruction at the V&A museum.

Ellie and I went for a walk along the river. You can still get there if you avoid the tankers and pipes!

Oscar was playing a football match in Deal and so they all came back here on the way home and stayed for lunch.
